Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/12/05 19:41It's okay, I've done the backup of my TwinTech GeForce 8800 GT BIOS. You can find it attached on this post. TwinTech GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Edition - Memory : 512MB Bus Type : PCI Express

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/12/05 19:46Thanks for the BIOS... And the bad news is that you have a newer version of the BIOS on your card and that one changed a bit and we are still checking how we can convert this to a Gen1 BIOS. So you will have to stay tuned for an update, cause we haven't figured this one out yet. Seems NVIDIA changed this and we need to check what we can do.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/12/05 20:35Okay, if I understood well, the only thing I have to do is wait. Do I have to look for an update from NVIDIA or something like that? Or will you find the solution? Thanks for your attention, you're the only one that can save me!

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/12/05 22:12Hi guys. first of all, sorry for my bad English, its not my first language. I have got the same problem with my ASUS Extreme N8800 GT 512MB in a Shuttle SN26P barebone, the fix with changing from Gen2 to Gen1 doesn't work with the original BIOS, which was on the card. Just took an older one from another card, flashed it without changing to Gen1 and it worked. Now the strange thing, in nvFlash the version number wich was on my card, was exactly the same version number to the BIOS I flashed. But with the original BIOS I got only a black screen, with the other one it works. If I open the working BIOS in NiBiTor, it is set to Gen2? But it works...

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/12/07 10:21Think I may also have the same problem, that is, a newer version of the BIOS that NiBiTor isn't able to change the PCI Express setting. I just purchased an XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Extreme (Alpha Dog Edition). I backed up the original BIOS then loaded it into NiBiTor to change PCI Express from version 2.0 to 1.0 but both options are grayed out and not available.
I am sending you my original BIOS in the hope that when you have time you can modify it to Gen1 for me. Thanks for all your work on this issue, it's a great help to all of us with VIA chipsets. XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Xtreme Edition - Memory : 512MB - Bus Type : PCI Express

At the same time it would be good if you could contact the TwinTech support as they might have a Gen1 BIOS ready with the same version number as your BIOS. In that case we would need that BIOS as well. But next to that we are also checking this out.

Can you share with us the BIOS's, meaning your original BIOS and the one you used to flash your card with? Then we can have a look and see what the difference is exactly... Thanks!

Hi, I fixed the problem by buying a new motherboard. Thanks Christmas! I couldn't wait, was too hard seeing this GeForce 8800 GT not working for 3 weeks now. I bought an ASUS Crosshair like my friend have so I think its gonna work with this one, I will overclock my CPU at the same time! I'm gonna try to contact TwinTech in order to help other people. I'll tell you if they answer or not. Thank you Mavke for your help...

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/12/08 08:03I have a XFX GeForce 8800 GT and an ASUS M2V-MX SE mainboard, which comes with the VIA chipset. I am going to mail XFX technical support and see if I get anything. Right now I do not have access to a mainboard to backup the BIOS, but I will in a couple days.
