Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/11/17 09:01 Railgun76 wrote:
I would like to ask 2 questions, is there any BIOS available for the Gainward card that I could flash using another PC? Can anybody confirm me full of compatibility of GeForce 8800 GT with an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard? Thank you in advance.
You can use either the ASUS or EVGA Gen1 BIOS that is available on this thread and those will work just fine on the Gainward card. We are still wokring on the enhancement for NiBiTor to support this feature and to enable it to all. The ASUS mainboard can handle the GeForce 8800 GT just fine, the problem is around VIA shipsets.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/11/20 20:32 Okay, so NiBiTor v3.5b is out supporting the change to Gen1 and vise versa. Oh and if you are missing where you can find the function, just use the Tools option which the option to change the Set PCIE Gen function. So when you load a Gen2 BIOS (PCI Express 2.0) you will be only able to downgrade to Gen1 BIOS (PCI Express 1.x) and vise versa if you have a Gen1 BIOS you can only upgrade to a Gen2 BIOS. And then you need to save the BIOS of course. And don't forget to support us... Donations are more than welcome. Good luck!

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/11/29 21:49 Hi yall, I have the same problem with my TwinTech GeForce 8800 GT graphics card. My mainboard is an MSI K9N Neo. I've tried 5 computers and just start on one that have an ASUS Crosshair mainboard, but that is too expensive for me. Where can I find the Gen1 BIOS for my card? Do you think I can do it with another BIOS then TwinTech? Please help me!

Wellif you backup your original BIOS of your TwinTech GeForce 8800 GT graphics card then we can now change your BIOS to be a Gen1 and that would be the best solution. So attach your original BIOS and we will get that done for you. For others with the same problem, just attach your original BIOS of your cards and we will get it done.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/11/30 05:51 Big thanks for your answer! But I would like to know how to make a backup of the original BIOS? Sorry I never done that. Someone told me with NiBiTor, I try that tonight, have to go to work before! I will give you the BIOS tonight when I come back... Thanks.

Yes, that will be fine. Indeed with NiBiTor, our own developed tool this can be done, but since it is your first time it is best to get some help and that is why we are here. And we also archive all original BIOS just in case it gets lost you have a place to find it at all times. I will look forward to the BIOS and get it done for you.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/11/30 21:29 Okay thank you, it's very nice. But I'm not very good at English and there is a thing I don't understand. Are you waiting for my backup of the BIOS? Or will you do it for me? I've tried to make a backup of the BIOS but didnt work. I tried with NiBiTor v3.5b downloaded on your site. I'm afraid to do something bad with NiBiTor. I just click on save BIOS but the file size is 0kb? Is it normal? There was nothing on NiBiTor screen, how does it work? Thank upu very much for your help, got this card one week ago and it doesnt work that drives me crazy!

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/12/01 10:20 Okay to make it clear, I need you original BIOS of your TwinTech GeForce 8800 GT and that is something you need to do as I don't have your card. So are you able to access a system where the card does work so that you can actually start up the PC with the card in it and get into windows? Then you use NiBiTor, and you use the Tools menu where you first do the Select Device. Then make sure you select the GeForce 8800 GT and after that you go again to Tools and select now Read BIOS and select to read it to a file. That will then backup the BIOS and that is the file I will need from you.

Good, then as soon as we have it we can update the specific code about the PCI Express and set it to a Gen1 and then you will just need to flash that BIOS on your card and it should work afterwards in your system.
