Okay, so I made actually a typo in my previous message. So well I meant VID 03... But I guess from what you wrote nothing is possible?
Well re-read the full thread and you will know the answer. But plain and simple, VID 03 gives 1.1V nothing more nothing less. And that is because th GPU look as what VID xx is active, in your case VID 03 and that means that GPU will work at that 03 level which corresponds for the chip as being 1.1V. So that is why we lable the VID 03 for the GeForce 8800 GT as 1.1V, and that is just a label to make it easy for you guys. So changing the label doesn't do anything, as the GPU still sees only VID 03... So is it all clear now? I do hope so cause I am getting a bit tired to explain.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/26 10:25 Is it possible to set the BIOS to dynamically control the fan? It doesn't seem to be possible in my Galaxy GeForce 8800 GT BIOS. Is it a hardware limitation? Or should it be possible with the correct BIOS?

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/26 12:13 Well since the GeForce 8800 GT has only one clock speed setting, it is only normal it has only one fan speed setting. So it has nothing to do with the BIOS really, but just as such currently limited by the hardware.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/26 20:27 Hi and first of all thank you Mavke, for your good and generous work! Since last week I am owner of a Zotac GeForce 8800 GT. In the meanwhile I put an Accelero S1 on it and flashed it first with XS BIOS. Actually it runs with another BIOS modified by another person, which seems to be almost the same. But I still think it runs a little bit better with this new BIOS. I changed the timings regarding the possibilities of my card to run 730/1980MHz and shader of 1800MHz and the vendor from MSI to NVIDIA.

Now it works fine with 3DMark06, ATITool and even with the Crysis demo. Temperatures with Accelero S1 are under 60°C in any situation. Now I have no idea left to give my card a further kick. My new BIOS seems to be almost the same one as you posted some days ago, only from an MSI card. Could you please check it once for me? Are there any possible improvements? I will attach both the original BIOS and the actually flashed and still working one. Once again, thank you!

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/26 20:51 One more question please, in the past I had several ATI cards and tested them with ATITool and ATI Tray Tools. Unfortunately ATITool does not really proper work with the GeForce 8800 GT. Therefore I do not really believe in the artifact scanning of ATITool anymore. So the XS BIOS has worked with ATITool and 3DMark06, but in the Crysis demo there was only a big confusion of pixels. The starting of the demo is really bothersome, so is there any other solution for proper testing on the run?

Okay, you are welcome. We just try to help those who seek our help and like to make it easy. Now I have checked both BIOS's and well there are too much differences to really go over all changes. Cause it seems the original Zotac is not the same as the original MSI... So comparing is just useless as it has other changes next to clock speeds, voltage change and memory timings. Oh and changing the vendor will not do anything really, it is just and ID but not really of much use.

That is just normal as ATITool was coded before the GeForce 8800 GT came out, so you will need to wait for an updated beta just like all Radeon HD 3800 series users have to wait. It requires to add the support for the G92 and RV670 chip before ATITool will work fine for these new cards, just as we have to do when we code NiBiTor...

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/27 09:19 Thank you very much! So what I was not able to imagine is fact, now for me the two BIOS versions are almost the same and you as an expert state the mass of differences. So I should try your Zotac BIOS? And for testing I should wait for ATITool new beta?

No you should use your original Zotac BIOS cause I believe it is newer than the one had receive from another user. Your has a newer version number. And what you should do is just change the voltage to 1.1V and flash it and try how high you can overclock the card. And ATITool you don't really need, if you know how to overclock you can do it yourself using RivaTuner or PowerStrip and gradually increase the clock speed on core and memory till you spot issues or artifacts...

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/27 21:12 Hello, I have a Point of View GeForce 8800GT 512MB and I reached 700/1960MHz with shader of 1740MHz without modifying the original BIOS. Then I saved my original BIOS and made a copy of it for some tweaking. I changed my extended voltage to 1.1V and now my card has bumped to 750/2000MHz with shader of 1800MHz with a really good temperatures, meaning 40-42°C Idle, max temp 75ºC playing Crysis on 50% fan speed. I see I might have a good core on this one but I will give you my original BIOS because you'll find out how to tweak it better. Thanks.
