Re:ASUS Striker Extreme, nForce 680i mainboard overclocking? - 2007/11/22 18:48 The temps are already less than the original cooler on original it was about 56°C on idle on 100% load around 67-76°C on 2.8GHz with Zalman it's 26°C on CPU speed 2.42GHz. So I think it's not cooler in my opinion. And one more thing will the Striker Extreme support the new generation from Intel based CPU's on 45nm technology?

Re:ASUS Striker Extreme, nForce 680i mainboard overclocking? - 2007/11/22 22:14 Well I think they should support those new 45nm CPU's from Intel if else they will be heavy impacted in sales... So I think it will just require a BIOS update. On the temps, I can only thing of the thermal compound not so good applied? And how do you check the temp the one from the mainboard sensor? It is not that exact as it measure the temp under the CPU and not on the cooler itself... But it is strange and don't see an obvious reason.

Re:ASUS Striker Extreme, nForce 680i mainboard overclocking? - 2007/11/23 08:26 As you know that Striker comes with 3 additional temp sensor. I just installed them and from the mainboard too. And one more thing I tried to overvoltage on core to make sure that is not the cooling issue and to make sure that the sensors working fine. So I pushed to 1.55V one time with overclock with 1600MHz FSB and the temps were about 57-59°C on idle. I can now pass the BIOS test to start computer but why I can't start the operating system? First I thought problem with ram, then I just return them to default clocks. But the problem is in the CPU even on 1500MHz FSB it won't start Vista, only on 1400MHz FSB.

Re:ASUS Striker Extreme, nForce 680i mainboard overclocking? - 2007/11/25 22:05 Hey again. Can anyone give some config for overclocking to try cause I really don't understand why I can't overclock more than 1400MHz FSB? And one more thing I am planning to upgrade to a 1333MHz FSB CPU. So is it possible that I can't move more than 1400MHz? Or it depends on other things?

Re:ASUS Striker Extreme, nForce 680i mainboard overclocking? - 2007/11/26 09:01 Well just so you know that you can start the PC and get throught the BIOS bootup is somehow normal as that doesn't really do that much, but once the operating system kicks in then all components are put to work... So my question what if you would use Windows XP? Just wondering, cause well just take is many say, Vista is not the ultimate operating system and more leaning to the failure with Millenium.

Re:ASUS Striker Extreme, nForce 680i mainboard overclocking? - 2007/11/28 00:09 Hi, I just flashed my BIOS from 1305 to 1301 and guess what I got? I reached 1900MHz FSB stable for 12 hours under stress test with Everest. So my ram runs on 950MHz stable too. It was all about the BIOS version. I even tried to push the FSB to 2200MHz, it starts but I had some issue with ram. So the system shows after 10-20 minutes blue screen dump physical memory. And by the way my temps are 33°C on idle and 45-48°C on full load.

Re:ASUS Striker Extreme, nForce 680i mainboard overclocking? - 2007/11/28 11:03 Oh, great. So going back to an older BIOS was just better then the newer. That is good to know and what an excellent result now mate. Great findings thanks again!
