So it doesn't make any sense trying the logic is just too different. We are now checking if we can implement this Gen1 to Gen2 update, and vice versa via NiBiTor to see if we can implement that option.

My motherboard is the ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA only supports the Gen1 PCI Express. Does anybody have a modified Gen1 BIOS that I can flash my card with please. Also does it matter if the BIOS comes from another manufacturer of the GeForce 8800 GT? This is a great forum by the way and the reviews are good. Thanks in advance...

Come here for the BIOS and to discuss results with others. As for myself, I've flashed my EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GT KO with a Gen1 BIOS to make it work on my ASRock 775Dual-VSTA mainboard. A similar action on your GeForce 8800 GT should work with the same results.

The BIOS I took is a Gen1 BIOS from the ASUS GeForce 8800 GT. When I try to update the BIOS using nvFlash I get a subsytem error, do I need to change anything on this BIOS to make it work with my Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GT?

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/11/12 10:31 Well it is saying that as the Gigabyte and ASUS have a different vendor ID, which is a mismatch on the subsystem. So what you need to do is to force the flash, which will do the flash without looking at the different ID's. This is just normal cause every manufacturer normally has it's own ID's. Please make a backup of the BIOS first, and provide us a copy as we are working on patching the BIOS ourselves from Gen2 to Gen1.

nvFlash v5.xx Commands...
"nvflash -b backup.rom" (Original BIOS Backup)
"nvflash -5 -6 newbios.rom" (Normal BIOS Flash)
"nvflash -4 -5 -6 newbios.rom" (Forced BIOS Flash)

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/11/12 13:30 Okay guys it worked, I force flashed the ASUS Gen1 BIOS on to my Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GT card and I can now boot on my ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA. I will give you a benchmark later to let you know how it performes. Also I have uploaded the original BIOS of the Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GT to the BIOS section. Thanks!

I have one, and I'm having the same simptoms as the ASRock's users. I'm gonna try to make the BIOS update soon, and I'll post here the results.
