Leadtek WinFast PX8600 GT, problem overheating at games? - 2007/11/11 11:01 Hi all, I just got a new WinFast PX8600 GT, so a GeForce 8600 GT but the heatpipe version and I'm having problem with it overheating when I am playing Battlefield 2. Has anyone got one of theses cards and had this problem? Any ideas on what I should do?

Re:Leadtek WinFast PX8600 GT, problem overheating at games? - 2007/11/11 11:36 Just wondering you got one with a passive cooling or there is a fan on the heatsink of the card? Cause depending on that it might be that you need some extra air flow in your case or you might need to removed the heatsink and re-apply thermal compound. Generally these cards are made fast and the thermal paste and heatsink are not always put that well on the card giving issues with overheating.

Re:Leadtek WinFast PX8600 GT, problem overheating at games? - 2007/11/11 14:18 Well I got the standard WinFast PX8600 GT, which really comes with two different heatsinks when you look at that one product. One comes as fan version and the one I have taken is the heatpipe version with no fan at all. It heats up to around 76°C, and that's without the side of the case on. Is this too hot?

Well okay, now I see it so you got the one without a fan and then you really need to make sure you have a good airflow within your case to have the card cooled sufficiently. Now 76°C is a high but not too hot, though we rather see it running below 70°C for a GeForce 8600 GT video card...
