The fifth picture of the first post in this thread shows the Catalyst Overdrive after flashing the BIOS. As you can see, the limit is now at 850MHz for the GPU and 850MHz for the memory. You don't use Catalyst, Overdrive?

But as I mentioned before, my Radeon HD 2600 PRO reached just stable 830MHz. Beyond this clock I've got similar problems like you. If you please to all who interested in these things and using this tweaked file, it would be useful to know about the experiences you have. Any trouble or unusually effects? Please send your feedback. I have to continue experimented with the XpertVision Radeon HD 2600 PRO respectively the BIOS. Further details in a few days.

Re:XpertVision Radeon HD 2600 PRO, and tweaked BIOS update? - 2007/11/13 21:12After making sure that GPU and memory of the Radeon HD 2600 PRO can reached the default clock of a Radeon HD 2600 XT, I wanted to try flashing the Radeon HD 2600 PRO with a Radeon HD 2600 XT BIOS file. For this test I used a mainboard with on-board video, a Gigabyte with GeForce 6100. In consideration of that what I've found out in the past few days, I guessed that it would be very likely possible to flash with a Radeon HD 2600 XT BIOS without to be worried that possibly the video card would be damage.
An interesting aspect in this context is the comparison with the PowerPlay 2D state of the early Radeon HD 2600 PRO BIOS and the latest Radeon HD 2600 PRO BIOS. In the latest version the 2D settings lifted up from 110/297MHz respectively 300/400MHz to 110/700MHz and 300/700MHz. It means always GPU/memory clock. If there is any effect occur by lower memory clock at 2D mode, I cannot say with definiteness. I detected some slight effects. For example, sometimes some contents of an opened shrink window will not regenerated respectively not maintained, if you open another one and which covered a great part of the first.
Astonishingly there was no problem if I flashed the Radeon HD 2600 XT BIOS. After reboot the card was detected as a Radeon HD 2600 XT and the installation of the drivers went off also trouble free. Also the flashing of the second Radeon HD 2600 XT BIOS went off without any problems. This time it was not even required to reinstalled the drivers. But I recommend to reinstall the drivers in this case, because I noticed some differences. By the way, I have tested if there was differences regarding the performance if HyperMemory is activated or not and I couldn't experience any appreciable changes.But these tests just had been superficial.
If you want to change these entries,then open regedit and search for the entry HyperMemory. Click with the right mouse button on this entry and choose change. Change the value from "1" to "0". Beneath HyperMemory follows the entry Size. Change this HEX value from 0x000001f4 to 0x00000000. If you like you can also change the entry values for "NonLocalVidMem" and "NonLocalVidMemCaps". Search for DDCaps0017 and DDCaps0018. There are HEX values, 0x00000100 being 256, 0x00000200 being 512, 0x00000400 being 1024. If you like change and test for some effects. Changes in the registry will be effective after reboot.
To mind that if you flash your Radeon HD 2600 PRO with this Radeon HD 2600 XT BIOS file after reboot the default clocks now at 800/800MHz. Very likely that your Radeon HD 2600 PRO GPU can reached these clocks, but it isn't sure. And the performance? I'm sorry to say that, but in comparison to my BIOS tweak there is no increase.
The original XpertVision Radeon HD 2600 XT BIOS dated 07/11/07 you can download here. The other original XpertVision Radeon HD 2600 XT BIOS dated 06/24/07, I had uploaded a few days ago. It is not as yet available, so it is attached. Please send your feedback.

Mentionable is, that this card can reached just stable 830/765MHz. As I mentioned before,with my first one, it was able to reached stable 830/830MHz. Therefore I commend to use the modified BIOS at first. With this BIOS the card starts with default clocks of 600/700MHz and so you can test, where the limit is.
In the worst case, your tests ended with a black screen and after reboot/reset contingently it isn't possible to reset to default or stable clock rates. So you start Windows in safe mode, you go to the control panel, and choose software and select Catalyst Control Center. Then use the option repair. Alternatively search for the file "profiles.xml" and change the entries CoreClockTarget_0 and MemoryClockTarget_0 just as you like.
