Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/03 13:39 Well just wondering who is already owning a GeForce 8800 GT and is ready for a small tweaking with us to confirm some findings with us? If you have a GeForce 8800 GT and you know what you are doing, meaning you know how to flash and recover then let us know, but also immediately share you own original BIOS. What we will check is some BIOS voltage tweaks, which should allow higher overclocking.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/04 03:21 I would be very interested, as long as the tweaks work for a SLI rig. I just picked up a pair of plain jane EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GT's but they apparently have the SC BIOS. According to the NVIDIA control panel and GPU-Z these regular GeForce 8800 GT's are at 650MHz on the GPU, 1900MHz on the memory and 1625MHz on the shaders.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/04 08:56 Well SLI or not shouldn't matter much, but I rather would like to know the impact of the tweak on one card alone, meaning single config as that is clearer than with SLI. But yes please backup the BIOS's of your cards and share these... And would you be willing for a try to just remove one card? If it works well you can do the tweak too both cards.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/04 13:57 I will be getting on Tuesday an EVGA eGeForce 8800 GT SSC edition card and I am willing to flash the card with whatever tweaks you want me to. I already know how to flash and backup the BIOS as you helped me flash and backup my GeForce 7950 GX2. My question is will any of these tweaks damage the card to the point that I can't recover and also the only thing I do not know how to do which I hope you can tell me more or less is how to recover from a bad flash? Just in case it happens which I am lucky this has not happened to me before. Well I hope I can be the test dummy coming Tuesday...

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/04 14:58 Unfortunately I already removed my GeForce 8800 GT and I will return it on Monday, so I can't help though would have been able to...

Well if you can flash, then you know also to flash back to the original BIOS. The tweak is a very simple one but can't only be tested if you have a GeForce 8800 GT and currently we don't have one. Well we hope to get one in the near future, or we skip and see to get the upcoming refresh GeForce 8800 GTS... So has such a card and willing to try something, which shouldn't be going bad but more to know if the tweak works or not.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/07 18:34 Well since you all have been waiting and waiting to even wanting to find out what my tweak could do, well I asked one of the NVIDIA partners to do some testing and the first results show that without any BIOS tweak you can gain about 12% performance with simple overclocking and with the tweaked BIOS it shows a 16% increase... But that is just one view with it not done by an actual user, so I am hoping with this first good news someone will finally be ready to give it a go?

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/08 17:44 Well I have Zotac GeForce 8800 GT, and it comes closed as the default at 660/1900MHz. But the fucking card core voltage is so low I think. Because the max stable overclock that I could reach in all games and benchmarks is 694/2106MHz at 60% fan speed it is very quite and maximum temp is 80°C. It is so cold but the core voltage stops me to overclock more. I am very dissappointed. I hope some other company cards could go further and I can flash then...

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/08 20:52 Hi, I just got my EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS SSC edtion and I am ready to start tweaking the card. I have been able to overclock it to 760MHz core, 1900MHz shaders and 2050MHz memory. Once I put my core to 770MHz and run 3DMark06 my computer locks up so 760MHz is the best I can get it to. I am ready to start tweaking my GeForce 8800 GT just let me know what you want me to do?
