Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/16 05:11 I am very new to GPU overclocking. I have a Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GT on a Gigabyte P35-DS3L mainboard running an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 processor. To overclock I had to get the nTune program. Then I used the test feature to see if my settings were working okay. So far I was able to run it at 750/1940MHz. In order to keep the settings for the future you have to save them as profiles. Those can be for 2D or 3D or even for a individual program. Went on to do CPU overclocking now and am still busy with doing that. If you want more info or the BIOS you have to hold my hand and tell my how to proceed. Regards...

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/16 19:10 My BIOS is here for tweaking. It currently overclocks and runs at SSC speeds of 700/2000MHz with no problems at all.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/16 23:46 Hello! So, I have a Gainward GeForce 8800 GT. I'm just wondering, if i can overwrite my BIOS with Zotac's or EVGA SCC, without any consideration to ruin my card? Thanks for the answer!

Well no, don't just flash cauyse if your card can't handle the speeds then you have an issue. So you always first try via software to see how good your card is at overclocking. If it can do the speeds of the Zotac and EVGA then you can consider a flash, but we would consider a better solution to tweak your own BIOS with the best overclock speeds. And always make a backup of the original BIOS to keep save and share it on our forums.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/17 13:55 So Mavke, do you think going into HEX editor can enable VID 04 with 1.15V? Probably a bad idea to do unless you have a recovery plan in mind. Some guy tempted to try this out, but wondering if it can be done on the GeForce 8800 GT... I'd tried this if I had PCI GPU laying around...

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/17 14:27 Well, my Gainward can handle 721/2050MHz with no problems!
Here is my original BIOS file!

As far as I am l aware trying to include VID 04 won't do much... I actually tried that on some cards but didn't do anything. But you can always try, I can't as I have no GeForce 8800 GT. If else I would try just to confirm my knioledge that it won't make a difference.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/17 19:59 Well I tried the 1.1V software modification and I get 745/2050MHz and 3DMark06 is very stable now! I can choose 1.8V in VID 04 if I want, but what will be the advantage of that?

Sorry but I don't understand that nobody is reading anything I have now said already several times. All NVIDIA GPU's work only on VID level, meaning that whatever label you give with the label being the voltage doesn't do anything as it is a label to you give the VID level. Now on the GeForce 8800 GT, the VID 00 is giving 0.95V so we gave VID 00 a recognizeable label being 0.95V. This is just to make it easy. In the default BIOS there is no VID 04, so whatever you are trying I don't think it will work or give any improvement.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/18 14:14 Okay, so I made actually a typo in my previous message. So well I meant VID 03... But I guess from what you wrote nothing is possible?
