I thought that this card can do 2000MHz in memory. Why not? Thanks! The fact is that most GeForce 8800 GT's come with memory that are rated at 1.1ns or even better 1.0ns and those can do 1800MHz or 2000MHz respectively so that means overclocking wise it should be able to go to 1900MHz and 2100MHz respectively and even higher. Now why does your card can't do that, and do you have a bad card?
Well I would say you might have a card where just one memory chip might be of lesser quality and therefore you are blocked at 1880MHz. Now if you overclock to high and you see those what is called artifact you are causing permanent damage to the chips so, you should take action and clock lower. A bad card? No, just a not so good card as the card is only rated to work at 600/1800MHz and you are overclocking and not every card is as good as the other...

But my entries for 2D and 3D took no effect, I filled extra and Thrtl up with zeroes. The GeForce 8800 GT booted with some weired clock rates maybe some kind of fail safe settings. Well it is not possible, in fact since we had only some GeForce 8800 GT BIOS's we just introduced the Extra setting as the GeForce 8800 GT doesn't have 2D, Thrtl and 3D at all. It uses a new structure with a 4th performance level which is new and only that one is active. So in the next version we might just hide the 2D, Thrtl and 3D in NIBiTor for the GeForce 8800 GT as those are no longer used nor valid and will never work. And no don't blaim us... This is NVIDIA that made this change on the BIOS structure and logic.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/11 09:14Hello, what is the max voltage you can get from BIOS? Only 1.1V, as I have a reference NVIDIA board here. I've been hearing that it could go higher than 1.1V?

I can live with that, just had to know about it for sure.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/11 09:43Well you can configure different profiles, 2D and 3D by the temp. For example I have that if the temps runs above 48ºC set 3D. If temp down 48ºC set 2D. This is in RivaTuner...

I've been hearing that it could go higher than 1.1V? Can you share with ur your NVIDIA reference BIOS? Cause we haven't seen anyone with the NVIDIA board yet? ANd just to explain how the BIOS logic on the voltage works, this is all controlled by the VID lines available, with each VID having its own voltage level. On the GeForce 8800 GT so far there are only 4 levels available as with most GeForce 8x00 series.
GeForce 8800 GT VID Voltage Levels... - VID 00 -> 0.95V - VID 01 -> 1.00V - VID 02 -> 1.05V - VID 03 -> 1.10V
And currently that is just it from the so far know reference voltage table available on the GeForce 8800 GT, however I also heard some talks about higher voltages, but since we don't have a GeForce 8800 GT, well not yet we are still looking to get one it seems also 1.15V and 1.20V would work but we are not sure which VID xx this would be, but they can't be the ones mentioned above.

Fan speed at temperatures under 60°C is 25%, almost inaudible if you ask me. With 0.95V GPU being set in the BIOS the GeForce 8800 GT didn't reach more than 85°C so far. I've set up the following profile in RivaTuner, to get fan speed regulated...

Cause this would be interesting to know and check how or what was done to get this voltage.

Re:Who is owning a GeForce 8800 GT, and ready for tweaking? - 2007/11/12 04:38Hello, tomorrow I will upload it my keyboard died on my and have to get a USB since the PS2 seems to be dead. I have tested the GPU voltage in my card, the NVIDIA reference sample given at NVIDIA editors day. It works at 1.5V, will upload the BIOS tomorrow and see what happens I will also modify it, I've read in XS that some guys claim 1.2V but they haven't showed real proof of the modification, no tester readings. GeForce 8800 GT, and BIOS tweak for better overclocking?

Okay I will be looking forward to that as 1.5V on a G92 65nm core does sound a lot and would heat up the chip like nuts. One of the reason why NVIDIA went to 65nm is because of the heat and the voltage, to reduce those again. So while 90nm needs 1.4V to 1.5V, the 65nm only needs around 1.0V to 1.1V to work well and to stay in range in terms of the heat generated. So yes your BIOS I would like to check and the XS thread is completely based on our thread...
