Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/03/05 23:01Well it is CeBIT time so since Gainward is a company in Germany they are mainly all at that location for their yearly show and will most likely show their new graphics cards. In the end the BIOS comes from NVIDIA and is for all vendors the same so you can just use as indicated the newer BIOS's and that will just fix it.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/03/12 16:43Just to reconfirm, just bought a Zotac GeForce 8800 GT running with stock BIOS on ASRock 4CoreDual. Nearly bought a Radeon HD 3870, thanks to everybody contributing, that was just in time. So great stuff.

Thanks mate, can you also share the original BIOS on this thread for others who might have an older Zotac GeForce 8800 GT card which has an older BIOS not yet fully working fine with the VIA chipsets... Thanks.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/03/13 00:07I have been trying very, very hard to find one of the newer BIOS versions for a GeForce 8800 GT with 1024MB of memory. Such cards are available from several vendors like Gainward, Palit, XpertVision, Sparkle and ASUS. But nothing has come up yet. Is there anyone out there, who has one of these GeForce 8800 GT 1GB cards running on a VIA chipset? Is there anyone who bought such a card recently? The aforementioned vendors seem unwilling to respond. At first I had my hopes high, but right now I am starting to loose hope...

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/03/13 23:33Might be hopeless to ask, but is there any solution around for GeForce 8800 GT 256MB versions? The 512MB BIOS versions posted in this thread do not work.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/03/16 20:18First, thanks to Mavke for a great forums. Now to my issue. I also have just discovered the VIA chipset issue after purchasing a MSI GeForce 8800 GT card. Anyone with a newer version of the BIOS file of 62.92.24.x and higher for the MSI GeForce 8800 GT? The latest version in the downloads section is the 62.92.1F.x version. I can probably just download the KO version of the BIOS and flash but would prefer the MSI version. Again, thanks to Mavke and the rest of you for a great service on finding out what is wrong with our systems and how to usually correct it. It's appreciated.

Well, in my opinion I would just try again to contact the company of the card you have and explain that there are BIOS's for the 512MB that work just fine and have been fixed, and that you want now the working BIOS for the 1GB version. And you could also try to contact the technical service of other brands...

Same thing here, just contact the vendor of your card and explain what the issue is and that there are several newer 512MB version of the BIOS out for the GeForce 8800 GT that have solved the problem. The more persons that contact their vendors, the more they will complain to NVIDIA and get a BIOS that will solve the issue.

I wrote MSI and they wrote back, quickly for a Sunday and told me that the BIOS would not be released for another month and to get a different card or motherboard. Looks like I'll be trying the EVGA KO board BIOS until this one is available.

Okay, though strange they don't have the BIOS as all BIOS's are coming from NVIDIA and they should just adapt the info text to show it is an MSI card and nothing more... Well yeah try the KO edition BIOS from EVGA and see how good it works.
