Freezing problem with my computer, random hiccups... - 2007/03/12 14:58Hi everybody, I'm new here and I wondered if you could help me on that freezing issue... My computer started to freeze since last week. It seems to happen randomly. I thought it was the ram but nope so... Here is my Everest report.

I changed the ram this weekend and added thermal grease to the CPU so I still don't know where this comes from. I added a file generated by RivaTuner that looked weird to me especially the memory frequencies...

I just wanted to add the different temperatures of my computer. So the CPU is at about 60°C, the GPU at about 40°C and finally the motherboard reports about 30°C. I've been told that the CPU was too hot... Do I have to add more thermal grease? I'm using Zalman thermal grease by the way.
Okay, I added thermal grease to the CPU and cleaned up the heat ink and the fan yesterday. The temperature dropped by 20°C. At first the problem seemed to be gone. I managed to use my computer for an hour or two without any freeze. But when I tried this afternoon the freeze issue was back every 2 minutes. So still no idea?

At least you should put everything back default before issuing any RMA to return the card.

At least, no more freezes. One last question though, is there any BIOS on this site suitable for this card in order to see some performance increase?

Well backup the original BIOS of that TwinTech card and attach it on this thread and we will see what can be done. Also which much memory does it have? And how high can you overclock the core and memory? After that we can see what is possible by tweaking the BIOS.

Well I've just posted the BIOS, here are the specifications of the TwinTech GeForce 7300 GT with 256MB DDR2 and AGP interface. The card runs default at 400/666MHz and says product board G73? The maximum overclocking I can get currently are 516/820MHz...

Could you perhaps also check which memory chips you got on the card. Cause 820MHz for DDR2 is quite good and most of the time it is hard to even higher with DDR2 memory. But if I know which chips and the details printed on them, then we can see if these can even go further.

All that I can say is that the chips are square shaped? With I believe no writing of any kind. If you can figure out what kind of chips are used, I think my ram has the same kind of the chip 512MB DDR400 Transcend... Or at least to me it looks the same.

And on all of them there is a marking on it of the brand and type, which is very important to find out what the memory is capable of. But as you put heatsinks on them then just stick with what you have, and can reach as clock speed.

Anyway I have another issue when playing now, when I launch Pro Evolution Soccer 6, but it is not limited to that game and there are many slowdowns during a minute and then the game plays fine. I tried this under Windows XP Professional. Under Windows Vista I do not have this problem except I didn't have the time to install the Vista ForceWare drivers. Any kind of suggestions accepted.
