Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/23 10:23 Daz wrote:
Okay guys, I'm happy whith all the info. But what is it? This is all a litlle confusing. I gues I have to try it, and then we all know for sure. Here is the BIOS from my card, the HIS version. And the BIOS I want to flash, from PowerColor. Let me know what you think.
Well it might work, although we doubt it much due to the PCB change on the recent Radeon X1950 PRO's... But we don't know for sure. Just make sure you have all at hand to flash back the original BIOS, cause we are lot liable if anything goes wrong, it is your own choice to flash or not...

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/23 21:09 I know its my risk, and you guys are a great help. I will give it a try and let you know. I don't want to any hardware voltage modification and the BIOS is safer. I can always flash the original back. Now I'm very curious if it wil work. Let you know tomorrow. Later.

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/25 04:35 I don't know how many times I have to say this. If your card has the newer style PCB with the analog voltage regulators it won't work, it might boot but you sure won't be able to change voltages. But hardware modifications are safe if you have the right equipment and know what you're doing.

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/25 15:24 Okay dude. Sorry but it was a little confusing what everybody is saying. And it sounds that you are sure. I will take your advice. The voltage modification is not a problem, I have the skills. But for warranty, BIOS is better, but it can't so pitty. Thanks...

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/25 19:04 The main question remains do you have the new style PCB? Cause as mentioned if you have the old one then it should work... Maybe just verify that first. On that I can't help much but maybe some others can guide you on this.

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/07/10 16:06 On my card at the front where the power connector is, there are 3 places where the cooler have to cool. There are eight memory chips and three other things. And on the Sapphire they are not there. And this is what its all about I think.

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/07/18 21:39 One of the easiest ways to tell is the newer style have the single slot fan blowing towards the back, where the power connector is. They also have two gray square chips in the back. Hardware modifications are much more easily reverted than BIOS tweaks, all you have to do is get a q-tip, dip an end in rubbing alcohol and erase the pencil marks, that should leave absolutely no traces of a voltage modification. But the modification itself takes a ton of patience because it's hard to get the perfect resistance.
