Re:Freezing problem with my computer, random hiccups... - 2007/06/17 09:33 Well I would suggest to try some different ForceWare drivers... Cause this sound more like a drivers problem or just that your card just can't follow the texture processing that is required in those games.

Re:Freezing problem with my computer, random hiccups... - 2007/06/17 14:35 That is something weird. I'll try to install the ForceWare drivers for Vista but I did try to use the ForceWare 94.24 drivers for Windows XP, I updated from ForceWare 93.71 to see if the problem was the drivers, but to no avail. I have installed the latest Via Hyperion v5.12a drivers. Any other ideas would be welcomed.

Re:Freezing problem with my computer, random hiccups... - 2007/06/18 08:02 I don't get what you tried, you are running Vista and you are installing Windows XP drivers? I don't see any point in doing that, for Windows XP you use on the XP drivers and for Windows Vista only the Vista drivers. You don't start mixing as that will just cause more problems. Just get the latest drivers from NVIDIA for your Windows version and see what it gives.

Re:Freezing problem with my computer, random hiccups... - 2007/06/18 14:25 You didn't get it... I have a dual boot system with Windows Vista and Windows XP, on a Vista fresh install without ForceWare drivers it works. Under XP with ForceWare 94.24 the bug is still there...

Mmm, I don't know... Is the Windows XP also a fresh install? Sorry if I ask twice maybe, but I don't recall anymore. If it is, then I don't know anything else you can try just like that.

My Windows XP install is not a fresh install and is installed in a different hard disk. Maybe I should defragment it...

Well just to be sure, haven't I told from the beginning that a fresh install of the operating system shoudl be tried first? Sorry, but I think I did say so... I have had already enough problems in the past with a shabby Windows XP after installing new or different hardware, the best is to have a fresh install.

Tried to do a repair on the system but the bug is still there, so guess I'll have to try and do a fresh install later then?

Well that is what I would have done already just to make sure it had nothing to do with the operating system since it is not fresh from when you installed the graphics card. And no a repair I haven't see that working to resolve such an issue. But to be sure it is nothing with residu from old drivers interacting with new drivers and so on I generally start with a clean installation to make sure it is not linked to that...

Re:Freezing problem with my computer, random hiccups... - 2007/06/23 20:16 Today I installed the ForceWare 158.24 drivers under Vista... And it seems that the problem indeed comes from the drivers because the slow downs were back under Vista after having installed these drivers... Any ideas?
