Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/14 12:34 Hey dudes, I have a HIS Radeon X1950 PRO 256MB water cooled and can't overclock the card. I've tried everything and nothings helps. PowerStrip doesn't see the clock speeds. RivaTuner doesn't apply the new clocks and ATITool freezes when I change the memory clocks. The Control Center on the Catalys drivers won't let me overclock much. Is there anything I can try?

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/14 16:22 Well, just try the latest ATITool... And don't forget to turn on driver level overclocking, cause that is what should be done before it will work with the Radeon X1950 series...

Mmm, okay cool. I though on my Radeon X1950 PRO it was working fine but indeed I did turn on the driver level overclocking before trying. I don't have the Radeon X1950 PRO anymore so I can double check this...

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/14 20:12 Okay thanks guys, I will try that and see what it does. And I will let you know the outcome. Hopefully it will make a difference.

Well, we will be looking for your feedback... Since I can't try myself I just can go with what I know since a while back. But it should work once the driver level overclocking is enabled. And yes the Radeon X1950 series is a strange beast when it comes to overclocking.

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/15 13:15 Hey guys, ATITool worked great. I can overclock the crap out of the card. I have an HIS Radeon X1950 PRO with 256MB and memory and core both water cooled. Default clocks speeds are 574MHz core and 1364MHz memory. Overclocking works now at 634MHz core and 1632MHz memory. This is what I've reached this far, but not the limit. The core temps are 30°C idle and max 36°C load. I got a Maze 4 on the GPU and a home made water block for the memory. Thank you guys for the help and will let you know what the maximum overclocking is of the card.

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/15 15:26 Yep, these things overclock decently with stock voltage, but they're crazy with a voltage modification. I modified the voltageof my core to 1.49V, which is 0.17V over stock and I can get the core up to around 680MHz. Haven't tried the memory yet.

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/15 15:47 Yep its a nice card. I have to flash it with another BIOS, to change the voltage and overclock higher. What's arround the max for this graphics card?

The maximum overclocking you mean? That depends from card to card so you need to just try the overclocking and see how far you can get yours. The core chips are not all equal in quality, nor the memory chips... So it does depend on both to reach a certain maximum.

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO, what is the best overclocking program? - 2007/06/19 14:04 Yep, but it seems that most card max out the core at 621MHz or 635MHz with stock voltage. Memory is completely different, and I can't seem to find a general average.
