NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v3.3 Software Feedback... - 2007/03/24 13:57 Here we go, a new version is again available. Thanks to at all the G80 based BIOS's and xtremetheme for the new update with some updates and fixes. As well as some extra support and new features... Some nice updates are available that have been requested! And we still have some work related to the TV mode option, but this has changed a bit and we are trying to figure it out...

Euh, some more details please, as the fan speed works normally on all series... But if you have an issue then please provide us which card you have and so on, as some card don't allow the fan speed change via the BIOS.

Can you provide your original BIOS of you EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS? And is it the 640MB or 320MB version? Secondly as far as I am aware the GTS works with only one performance level which is just 3D, which means you can only adapt those settings cause that controls the clock speed and fan settings. If we add/enable the 2D performance level as well then you will be able to change the fan speed... So it is not a problem of NiBiTor normally but rather how the BIOS of all GeForce 8800 series is designed to have only one performance level, namely the 3D one. With your original BIOS we can confirm though.

These cards have at least 2 performance levels since I use RivaTuner to set the fan to 100% when core clock changes automatically when I start a 3D application. Problem is I want to use Windows Vista and RivaTuner isn't compatible with it. Although the fan speed is set to 100% in the BIOS, it's always at 60%. The BIOS is attached...

The BIOS has only one performance level, which is the 3D one. You can clearly see that in NiBiTor and we have actually done quite some research on this, so we are certain and it is confirmed. However with the GeForce 8800 series certain things are controlled by the drivers which is as well that somehow strange level in between. And the fan speed in the drivers has a low level entry.

Now this is where RivaTuner is able to adjust the fan speed somehow, cause the BIOS is saying fan speed is at 100% but the drivers are limiting that 100% to only 60% in the low level options. This is new and was not there for the GeForce 7 series. Now by adjusting the low level fan speed to 100%, you actually say use 100% of the 100% fan speed. A strange way but as far as we have been able to check it is purely a driver setting and not a BIOS option this low level fan speed. So again nothing is wrong with NiBiTor...
