That is making it clear and sounds logic in some way. Thanks! There might be a driver modding possible, although I don't know. I might check with the coder of RivaTuner, however he is actually stepping back on the development to focus on personal stuff. But we will see. But indeed with Windows Vista you are a bit blocked...

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v3.3 Software Feedback... - 2007/03/31 11:22Hello, I got a GeForce 8800 GTS. So you said on this card, on BIOS level there is only one speed level, 100%, and the driver has a low level setting, which makes the fan works at 60% on 2D! I know how to set this different, say 80% 2D and 100% 3D but I have multiple accounts on my rig, and those are limited ones, therefore RivaTuner says that they don't have the right to...and doesn't work under those accounts. That's why it would be nice to have the opportunity to set 2D and 3D level in NiBiTor!

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v3.3 Software Feedback... - 2007/03/31 12:47And if you would have checked my previous post a bit better then you might have seen that the low level fan speed is not a BIOS option but is something that NVIDIA has added via their drivers. So if you want to somehow get what you want you rather need a driver tweak somehow... The BIOS just hasn't got that option, for the low level fan speed.
However NiBiTor supports completely that you set two performance levels, while initially you have only one which is just to control the 3D clock speed and fan speed. But if you set another performance level, then you can also set different clock speeds and fan speed for 2D next to the 3D option. But still that doesn't change the low level fan speed at all!

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v3.3 Software Feedback... - 2007/04/06 11:25Hello! I'm Spanish, so sorry for my bad English. I have read all the posts of this thread, but I think that my problem is different. Recently I bought a XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB and I modified my BIOS with NiBiTor (great program) for setup two different modes... > 2D -> 400/1400MHz (with fan speed 60%) > 3D -> 630/2000MHz (with fan speed 75%)
When I change the mode in my computer (2D/3D) the clocks change well, but fan speed always stay at 60% although in this moment it isn't a problem because when I play, the highest temp that I have is 75ºC, and I think this is normal. It's really true? Is this problem the same that is talking in the previous posts? Thanks...

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v3.3 Software Feedback... - 2007/04/06 12:17Well actually there is a reason why NVIDIA has only set one performance level, meaning only 3D on the BIOS... And that is because the change between 2D to 3D and vice versa doesn't seem to be support for all features, and that is linked to the fan speed... So it can be normal however on that I have not yet been able to check further.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v3.3 Software Feedback... - 2007/04/09 22:41Hi there, I actually wanted to use this tool to enable 98% fan speed, even in 2D mode on my GeForce 8800 GTX and some decent overclocking. I don't want to use third party tools all the time. So I changed some setting in the BIOS, applied them, flashed the new BIOS... Well, the overclocking works, but not the fan control. It only kicks in, when I run a third party tool, which I didn't want to do.
I expected the new BIOS settings to apply even before OS boot... Any idea? Am I doing something wrong? Or is there a bug in NiBiTor? By the way, the fan threshold under the temperatures tab is greyed out... Greetings.

Now I would like to know what you tried? Cause you are talking about the 2D mode and well just to once again mention it, there is a reason why NVIDIA only has one performance level on the GeForce 8800 series BIOS's, which is just the 3D mode.
Now to check it further, can you provide which card that you have, brand? Then you need to supply your original BIOS fo your card and as well the modified one that you flashed to your card. That way we can check what you tried and provide some input on it...
