Help with 1950XT - weird problem - 2007/03/14 10:57
To all the guru's here - please can you help me with this problem:
I purchased a Sapphire X1950XT 256Mb PCIe card last November to do GPU Folding on a new dedicated XP box and it worked fine at stock speeds (2D and 3D using ATi Tool and ATi Tray Tools).
However after upgrading the CPU from single-core 3800 to dual-core X2 4400 the machine started to "play-up" - random freezes and complete shut downs. I checked the temps which were high but okay and then determined that my PSU (Tagan 480) was running at over 80% load. I replaced it with a new Tagan 700w and did a complete rebuild of the PC with clean install of XP SP2, drivers, DX9.0c and CAT 6.10.
But now my FAH on GPU fails to run at all - it says "GPU initialization failed" every time BUT ATI Tray Tools runs the 3D Renderer and Artifact scans are okay (no artifacts even OC'd). ATi game demo run fine too.
I am at a total loss - do you think my card is somehow damaged ? Thanks.
