Radeon BIOS Tuner (RaBiT) v2.2.1 software do give feedback? - 2007/01/24 20:42 There you go, a new version is again available. This is actually an updated version due to some minor bugs reported and to add the support for the new version of Radeon X1950 and Radeon X1650 cards. Thanks goes to Jaz for the new update so you can enjoy again this wonderful tool. And also let us know what else you would like to see in the tool and show some appreciation as well.

Radeon BIOS Tuner (RaBiT) v2.2.1 Software

Once again a nice release if we say so ourselves, which we have not really coded but did provide support and are working closely with the developer. And please provide your feedback, that way we will be able to support you even better! Also provide your original BIOS as that helps a lot to get things better supported in the next versions and to introduce new features!

Re:Radeon BIOS Tuner (RaBiT) v2.2.1 software do give feedback? - 2007/01/26 16:18 I've always been more than happy with NiBiTor for my trusty old XPS-M170. Recently (meaning today) I accidentally stumbled upon RaBiT. This tool seemed perfect for making my desktop card settings permanent too. I discovered it a bit late though, I'm still on a Radeon X1800 XT, so I didn't follow the entire development process or what has been said about my gripes. RaBiT says it will only allow 10% Vdd increase to a max of 1.4V. But 1.4V is a measly 3.7% over the stock voltage of 1.35V in Overdrive mode. Why is that? What can anyone hope to achieve with 0.05V?

Why at all limit the voltage if people have to flash their cards, which is risky enough? I would say let people decide for themselves what they think is wise, don't play government for them. My water cooling allows me to run at 1.55V Vdd and still stay cool. I need that 1.55V to get to my max speed, which RaBiT won't allow me to. I might miss the point, but why no Vmem adjustment? My R520 likes 2.99V on it's ram and it works very well for me.

Killing my card sooner doesn't concern me, it only gives me a reason to buy a new one. That's pretty much it. Without being able to adjust voltages to what suits me I won't be able to use your tool and am forced to use ATITool which does allow me these changes. I didn't mean to come off strong, but I had to say what I thought. Be gentle and put me straight please.

Re:Radeon BIOS Tuner (RaBiT) v2.2.1 software do give feedback? - 2007/01/26 16:29 First of all, thanks for your feedback it is very valuable. Secondly I will take this up and see with the coder on what can be changed or amended for the above. But that is not us, as we use coder who picked this up and we don't have the time, nor resources nor money to make a tool ourselves as we already have enough with NiBiTor. But I will see what can be done.

Re:Radeon BIOS Tuner (RaBiT) v2.2.1 software do give feedback? - 2007/01/26 16:34 Hi, quick reply, so quick I couldn't even edit my post in time. What I neglected to say is that my R520 is a Club3D. When I load a different BIOS from Sapphire the values change, or at least they might. The Rev.01 of the Sapphire BIOS is also limited to 1.4V while Rev.02 goes to 1.425V. Still not enough juice, but proof enough that the voltage limit is artificial and can be removed...if the coder wanted to. I'll eagerly await any future developments. Cheers!

Re:Radeon BIOS Tuner (RaBiT) v2.2.1 software do give feedback? - 2007/01/26 16:56 Mmm, also RaBiT v2.2.1 still see 256MB instead of 512MB, I believe the AGP card is slightly different from the PCI express version. My BIOS has already been sent. I think that each ATI partner was free to design a different PCB card on the AGP version of the Radeon X1950 PRO, so things are maybe more complicated?

Re:Radeon BIOS Tuner (RaBiT) v2.2.1 software do give feedback? - 2007/01/29 20:41 Just signed up to give feedback on latest RaBiT, never known about these forums before now. As you are probably aware, the Sapphire Radeon X1950 PRO has a tendancy to overheat easily with its weedy cooler. I have used RaBiT to alter the temperature settings now that it recognises the BIOS properly, and the latest ATIFlash was used to grab and flash the BIOS. My problem seems to be that now I have changed only the temps I want, Overdrive doesn't work anymore. I can't set what clocks I really want.

Also clocks now show as 574MHz core and 1390MHz memory opposed to 580/1400MHz as they were originaly. strangely it all looks fine within RaBiT itself. Just a minor inconvenience and I know I can just reflash the original BIOS, but I like to have the card not black out, which the higher fan speeds seem to be helping at the moment. Be nice if Sapphire recognise the issue and releases an official BIOS with tweaked fan speeds suitable for the cooler. And attached is the original BIOS in case its of any use.

Re:Radeon BIOS Tuner (RaBiT) v2.2.1 software do give feedback? - 2007/01/30 20:11 Well I flashed my BIOS with 620MHz core and 1444MHz memory, and my second card reads right but the first card just goes back to 574/1390MHz while I can't uderstand why. Do you have any ideas?

Well you can try this BIOS, it is the yours but with the fan speed set at 50% at 40°C then it goes up to 100% after that. So you can try and see what that gives.

I will take a look at it, thank you. Changing the fan speeds did work okay though, it just broke the Overdrive feature and lowered the default clocks. The BIOS I have attached is the original untouched version.

Re:Radeon BIOS Tuner (RaBiT) v2.2.1 software do give feedback? - 2007/01/31 12:05 That's the same problem I had too but I have CrossFire, the second card has the new clocks and the first one loses them. I just changed cards around and same thing top card that was showing the right clocks as the second card now shows the clocks like the other card when it was the top card, very strange...

Changed BIOS Settings...
- Core : 620MHz
- Memory : 1460MHz
- Reference : 27MHz
> OverDrive3 : 0..120°C at 580/1400MHz

Original BIOS Settings...
- Core : 581MHz
- Memory : 702MHz
- Reference : 27MHz
> OverDrive3 : 0..120°C at 581/1404MHz
