Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT, about Overdrive profiles? - 2007/01/16 07:51 Guys, I am getting sick of these Overdrive profiles on my Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT. It has 2 profiles with different speeds but I hate that. Is there a way to delete those profiles? I have tried different programs but it didn't work.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT, about Overdrive profiles? - 2007/01/16 09:10 Can you explain why you don't want these Overdrive profiles? Just wondering as those are used for normal clock in 2D operation but will jump to Overdrive for 3D operation...

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT, about Overdrive profiles? - 2007/01/16 09:20 I think that the performance will increase when I delete those profiles. I have done it on my GeForce 6800 Ultra and I gained more performance. But do you know a way to delete those profiles?

Mmm, first of all don't start with looking back on what you have done on an NVIDIA card and think you can with an ATI card. There is too much differences and certainly related to the BIOS. And again you deleted what on the GeForce 6800 Ultra? Which profiles did you delete? I just want to understand more so I can check what can be done...

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT, about Overdrive profiles? - 2007/01/16 13:27 The GeForce 6800Ultra has a 2D en 3D core profile. I deleted the 2D core. So the card runned only one profile. And I gained more performance with it. I attached a picture of Everest.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT, about Overdrive profiles? - 2007/01/16 15:12 That's a BIOS setting, deleting any of those entries could result in dead card. The top one is 2D applications, middle VPU recovery mode and bottom the 3D mode. I would look into at temps first...

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1950 XT, about Overdrive profiles? - 2007/01/16 15:16 With RaBiT you can change the different profile speeds, but you can't delete them. I am absolutaly sure that there is a way to delete those profiles with a BIOS edit program.

Well either you change the BIOS so that all show the same, or you somehow invent you own BIOS editing program or do a HEX edit to remove these. However we don't take any risk and we know already that it will not work for an ATI card as you have done with your NVIDIA card. So I wouldn't even consider trying it, the logic is different and ATI cards need those different levels...

You are welcome... Just see what you can do to align the entries from 2D and 3D to get what you somehow are after. But I wouldn't really advise it if you don't know what you are doing.
