Radeon X1950 PRO AGP and Windows ME/98 possible... - 2007/01/13 01:41 First I would like to thank the people here. I was happy to see we have a new kid in town and the town is the AGP town! But considering we no longer have updated drivers for Windows ME/98, I wonder if ATI would not consider re-pack one of the latest Windows ME/98 drivers so it could at least see the specifics for this new card. Before someone out there asks why waste time with Windows 98?

I would like to do some benchmarks and tests with this OS running the game Microsoft Train Simulator which is very hungry for hardware! Besides other people that have AGP slot may be running other OS's, other than Windows XP. What do you guys think? Thanks to you all!

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO AGP and Windows ME/98 possible... - 2007/01/13 08:47 It just can't happen reason why is the latest driver that supports it you need DirectX 9.0c just to install it. And if my memory serves me right the older drivers only goes to DirectX 9.0a...

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO AGP and Windows ME/98 possible... - 2007/01/17 15:59 Well I would have to agree... And well if you want to try, you could just download the latest Catalyst driver for Windows ME/98 and just add the support for the Radeon X1950 PRO AGP from the corresponding newer drivers and that should do the trick as well.

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO AGP and Windows ME/98 possible... - 2007/01/26 19:11 Can you tell me or do it for me that I can use the Catalyst 6.2 Windows 98 driver with my Radeon X1950 PRO AGP? Its for my 2nd partition that has Windows 98 SE on it! Thanks...

Are those drivers available for Window 98? If so then just find compare the ".ini" files from a driver set that supports the Radeon X1950 PRO AGP and insert the lines to add this support in the latest Windows 98 drivers...

Re:Radeon X1950 PRO AGP and Windows ME/98 possible... - 2007/07/17 03:03 The last ATI card with Windows 98 support was the Radeon X850 XT with the Catalyst 6.2 drivers. The Radeon X850 XT did a little better than the GeForce 7600 GT in the charts. However the GeForce 7600 is not Windows 98 compatible. I also wanted to build a Windows 98 machine. I also would suggest staying away from nForce 4 chipset on the motherboard, as there is no Widnows 98 support either. Hope that helps.

Frankly I am wondering what your comment has to do with the actualy thread, cause it doesn't at all talk about the Radeon X1950 PRO series, just a little about Windows 98. Secondly adding the support for the GeForce 7600 series to the ForceWare drivers is quite easy, and also for the Catalyst drivers. It is all about playing with the ".ini" file and adding the right strings. And that is what the thread is about...
