Get XTreme G Driver Hacks Here - 2004/12/16 11:32 I'm starting this thread in order to allow MVKTech members the use of modded setup scripts for XTreme G (VXG) ForceWare drivers.

The procedure is to...

1.- Download the ForceWare driver set from MVKTech or NVIDIA.

2.- Extract the setup files by starting the ForceWare install program but clicking cancel after the files are extracted and the Setup program asks if you want to install the drivers.

3.- Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder where the files are located and rename "nv4_disp.inf" to "nv4_disp.inf.bak".

4.- Copy the modded "nv4_disp.inf" to the setup files folder.

5.- Uninstall your current drivers and restart Windows.

6.- When the New Hardware Wizard opens, direct it to the location of the driver set or install the drivers using Setup.exe and when the warning about the files not being WHQL certified pops up press Continue Anyway.

7.- Restart Windows

Be sure to post your observations and/or any problems you encounter. Don't forget, the tweaks in these infs affect both IQ and speed. So don't judge them based on benchmark scores alone. Play some games before you judge.

XG 71.20 - 2004/12/16 11:38 This is a modded setup script for the Forceware 71.20's. It contains general optimizations and performance tweaks and a few HL2 tweaks.

File Attachment:
File name: VXG_7120_nv4_disp.zip
File size:11126 bytes

On my crappy rig with my Gainward GS 6800GT, these are fast drivers even before the mods. The mods add a little speed but also improve IQ and game smoothness.

Re:XG 71.20FX - 2004/12/16 11:41 This is a modded setup script for the Forceware 71.20's for NVIDIA GeForce FX cards only. It contains general optimizations and
performance tweaks and a few HL2 tweaks. Don't use this mod for NVIDIA 6xxx Series cards.

I installed these on my daughter's FX5500 PC. She's too young for FPS games... But they seem fine for what she does play.

Re:XG 71.20 - 2004/12/18 05:27 The Xtreme G 71.20 (VXG) drivers have finally been released and for now can be downloaded from:
VXG Drivers - MVKTech

This is the whole set, not just the inf. When Mavke gets back he'll put them up on our site.

Re:XG 71.20 - 2004/12/18 14:39 I installed these VXG 71.20 and they suck on my rig. I get these flaws on the graphics and poor performance. It shows the worst performance on PES 4 so its back to ForceWare for me. Those of you who try it post your opinions pls (just out of curiosity).

Are these drivers anything like the Omega ones?
By the way: Hello!

The FX set is the one that has NV3x Beta & Beta2 in the name but it's password protected. If you use the setup script for the FX set in the above post, it's the same thing.

I can't guarantee that these will be what you expect, cause I only used them on my daugter's PC and she doesn't play the same games that most of you guys would... I hope

Even the other set, for NVIDIA in general, works fine on my rig but others don't like this set. So if you don't mind trying something and rolling back if you don't like it, then...

Re:VXG 71.20 - 2004/12/20 11:14 I tried VXG Driver on XP - gameplay smooth - no concerns to the eye! Lost @ 100 points in 3DMark5 though.

BFG 6800 Ultra OC - Flashed to eVGA UE...

Re:VXG 71.20 - 2004/12/23 03:40 Well thanks for sharing this very nice information JRd1st! Really good to start modding some stuff on your own... Secondly I saw that Valance Studios released their final NV3x Drivers based on the NVIDIA ForceWare 71.20... And I also added them on this great site hehe...

Check the download section...
VXG Driver Files

Enjoy!
