I tried VXG Driver on XP - gameplay smooth - no concerns to the eye! Lost @ 100 points in 3DMark5 though.

BFG 6800 Ultra OC - Flashed to eVGA UE...

Well, to me performance is a games related term. If you like the way they perform in games, that's the important thing. Benchmarks are only useful for bragging rights or to help you compare things.

I don't even do benches anymore, cause my P4 3.06 w/1GB of PC2700@533MHz gets like half the benches that some rigs do but it plays HL2 fine and that's all that counts for me right now (untill I build my Super Rig next summer!).

Mmm a Super Rig... With Quad SLI hehe Who knows... And Dual-Core Intel CPU's...

Re:VXG 71.20 - 2004/12/23 15:00 Quad SLI? I would need a second mortgage on my house for the video cards!

Re:VXG 71.20 - 2004/12/23 15:07 No, you could get 2 of the new Gigabyte 6600GT's with dual GPU. Each one is a one board SLI solution. You'll be able to get 1 of them with a matching mobo for less that a single 6800 Ultra AGP.

But I don't think any mobo would know what to do with 2 of them.

From Nvidia's position, the Gigabyte one card but dual GPU SLI solution wasn't supposed to happen just now, so I think it won't be too long before we see a Gigabyte or some other manufacturer, once again with their own agenda, supplying mobo's that allow two of these dual GPU cards to run together?

Re:VXG 71.20 - 2004/12/23 15:47 That would actually be bad. The game makers would then be designing their games to suit high end machines which most couldn't afford, as they practically do already.

But 4 cards wouldn't make sense anyway. If two cards each do frames which interlace to make "screens", what would 4 cards do? Would 2 cards "look ahead" to the "next screen" while 2 display the "present screen"? Seems there would be too much waiting time for that to be economical.

Re:VXG 71.20 - 2004/12/23 21:57 Well the new development, just like for CPU's will move to Dual-Core...Multi-Core CPU's, of NVIDIA and ATI will go to make a Dual-Core...and later on Multi-Core GPU's. Like you see now with Intel. First HyperThreading and now they go for a Dual-Core CPU, the same will be for graphic card chips. As the MHz race is over...

Re:VXG 71.20 - 2005/01/09 16:54 Wait until you se the XTreme G 67.65 drivers. I totally re-wired the settings in those babies and we're going to have 5 options during insall;

Benchmark
Benchmark-fx
Quality
Quality-fx
and Hi-Quality

On my decrepit rig, there is a almost 4000 point diff between Hi-Q and Bench on AM3. But the IQ on the bench drivers isn't too bad, even though I get my highest non-OC score yet. The Hi-Q, however makes AM3 look practically 3D to even my IQ-blind eye!

The beta's may be out today.
