PC3200 @ 400MHz BSoD - HELP! - 2006/12/13 00:41 I recently updated my CPU from a P4 2.6 (533FSB to a P4 3.4 (Northwood, 800FSB.

With my motherboard Asus P4P800-E Deluxe, and previous 2.6 CPU, my memory was limited and couldn't run @ 400MHz, b/c the CPU only ran at 533MHz FSB. I have 2 sticks of Mushkin Greenline PC3200 1Gig RAM.

Now that I have the P4 3.4 800MHz FSB, it should enable my RAM to run at its rated speed (400Mhz). However, this is NOT the case. If i set the "Config RAM by Speed" to Auto in BIOS, I always get a BSoD. When I set this value manually to 266MHz, the pc runs fine. Now I may be missing something and if so, I would like to know what it is.

I have the 1st stick in Memory Bank 1, and the 2nd stick in Memory bank 3, which should enable Dual Channel, (am I correct)?

I'm just wondering if I'm mixed up, but I believe I should be able to run that memory at 400MHz dual channel without problems, right? It seems like something just isnt clicking here. I just want to know whether I can fix this or if I'm doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I brought this question here cuz I know you all are TOP NOTCH. Thanks to those in advance.

Re:PC3200 @ 400MHz BSoD - HELP! - 2006/12/13 03:13 your memory is rated @ 200 fsb . a 533 bus cpu operates @ 133 fsb ( 133 x 4 = 533 ) a 800 mhz cpu runs @ 200 fsb ( 200 x 4 = 800 ) now it could be voltage or timings .

Re:PC3200 @ 400MHz BSoD - HELP! - 2006/12/14 07:09 Well I can manually set the timings (of course) but I don't know much about them to be honest. I tried changing the voltage to 2.65v and setting the ram to 400MHz, but that didnt work . Should I up it to 2.75v? which I hear I should NOT exceed. Any suggestions or numbers you suggest for timings? Thanks

This is what my BIOS setting is currently. If I change it to 266MHz, it still works fine. But if I set it to 400MHz, I get the BSoD problems.

Here is where I have the setting at Auto. I'm not too good with memory timings, so maybe if I set these correctly, I can fix this issue.

Here is the voltage settings. They are in increments of .1

Here is the options available if I use it manually. I just don't know what to change any of them to.

Re:PC3200 @ 400MHz BSoD - HELP! - 2007/03/06 01:41 I checked out the Mushkin website and the PC-3200 memory from there is rated at 2.6v - 2.8v(volts), so you can safely up the voltage to 2.75v. Also you could loosen up the timings just to see if you are able to get into windows. Set the DRAM RAS# Precharge to 4 and set the DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay also to 4. If all this doesn't work try doing a repair to your OS. Sometimes winblows doesn't like it when you change around too many configurations.
