Intel systems are for me a bit too expensive, the CPU costs 200 or 300 more as an AMD, I know it has better performance but I don't want it. Well that is your own choice. But a Intel Core 2 Duo doesn't cost more then an AMD processor... If you want the same performance from Intel and AMD then currently the Core 2 Duo is the cheapest around. Actually you state 200 or 300 more expensive? That is not true as my processor only costs 185 and that is a Core 2 Duo E6300 which you can clock all up to 2.8GHz and even higher. But you seem to like AMD so, I am not gona change your mind.

Re:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ running at 2.9GHz max?! - 2006/11/28 14:22Yeah but I mean the price from an stock CPU, a stock AMD with 2.8GHz is cheaper as an stock Intel at 2.8GHz, that is what I mean. So, looked at my mainboard settings and it looks like the Diamond Plus isn't a good overclocker board, haven't got much features to voltage the northbridge or something other. I know much features for overclocking at my old DFI board but the K8N Diamond Plus hasn't those, and didn't found a modded or overclocking BIOS for this, only for the K8N Diamond with the Award BIOS.

Yeah, well I know I am pushing it, but that comparison is just bullshit. Never did anyone compare the GHz clock between and AMD or Intel... Why cause an AMD 2.2GHz could beat an Intel 3.2GHz during gameplay. But when you compare the price you are looking at GHz? Well that is just nuts, cause there is no 3.2GHz AMD, and if there would the price would be sky rocket high.
So stick that what can be compared and that is the actual performance the lowest Core 2 Duo E6300 at 1.86GHz default can be beat almost all AMD processors out there, and then you going to call it expensive? I would reconsider your opinion... And yeah currently Intel is doing what AMD has been doing in the past, giving better performance at lower clock speed.

Re:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ running at 2.9GHz max?! - 2006/11/28 15:18You can't really compare MHz to MHz anymore. Reason being its the same thing as Intel did with there CPU's prior to the Core 2 Duo and when AMD reined in supreme. But what you can do is compare CPU's right now a stock Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 at 2.13GHz smokes an AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 (that CPU is $220 and the FX-62 is $900). No matter what you do the AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 it can't beat the Intel Core 2 Duo at stock.
The AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 can do 25 seconds in Super Pi at 1 million with phase cooling. Wel the Intel Core 2 Duo which I got myself gotten it down to 16.850 seconds on air. Also look at the AuqaMark 3 scores here on this web site and also look at the 3DMark05/06 scores then look at the CPU scores of each not the graphics but the CPU... You will see what I mean.

Re:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ running at 2.9GHz max?! - 2006/11/28 16:01Yeah the FX-62 is expensive (around 600 for me) and the E6400 around 180, thats true, but I'm not an Intel fan and thats the same discussion about AMD/Intel in every forum, the AMD fans say this, the Intel fans this, it gives no end. And with the Super Pi, I know that, I saw an Intel Core 2 Duo at 5.5GHz that bumped the 1M in 9 secs. But I didn't saw an AMD Athmon 64 FX-62 that reaches that, thats true and I never saw an FX-62 at 5.5GHz, thats true too. But the other thing, I never saw an FX-62 at LN2 cooling like the Core 2 Duo at 5.5GHz.

Re:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ running at 2.9GHz max?! - 2006/11/29 01:19I am not just an Intel fan I like AMD's as well. As AMD's are good CPU's and they will make a good strong come back as well. I have seen a lot of CPU's on phase cooling most of them AMD's now its Intel Core 2 Duo to impress me show me a 24h everyday overclock. My reason for the last post was two CPU's were being compared MHz for MHz and cost MHz to MHz and I just wanted to clear that up that's all. Now to get a higher overclock I would lose the ASUS board (why people use em is beyond me) and go get a DFI nF4 board or a EVGA nF4 board both of them will do wonders to a CPU...

Re:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ running at 2.9GHz max?! - 2006/11/29 11:24Yeah, if you really want the most out of your current CPU, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+, I think you should take the advise of going for a better mainboard... But then again maybe it would just be better to wait and save for a good AM2 board and CPU.

Re:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ running at 2.9GHz max?! - 2006/11/29 15:22before i buyd me the msi , i would buy the DFI board ( SLI-DR Expert ) but no onlineshop , no store and not in ebay i found this board , all i got hear at stores or onlineshops that this board isnīt there and they have no shipping details , so i buyd me those K8N Diamond Plus SE ( yeah its an SE i forgot ) coz i found good reviews about this board , i had an DFI before and would back an DFI , but the DFI wasnīt there and no shop got this board at this time i needed it
so , what for an board for the AM2 you think is good ? i not only need it for overclock , thats the Reason for the Diamond Plus SE with the good Sound Onboard
@Raptor
didnīt found the EVGA board , and didnīt found like it gave in Ebay an BFG SLI Board , that i didnīt found too , i think its not possible to get those boards in Germany
the DFI have the Karajan sound chip onboard and that i didnīt found so good like those Creative Audigy at the MSI boards ,
what you think about ABIT Fatal1ty AN9 32X ?
