Re:Can I change the GeForce 7900 GS into a GT!? - 2006/10/16 21:29 Once you gotten that popup you should see all the pipelines that are available masked and non masked... In my case non are masked. See image below...

Let me know what you get... With the check before the bit xx you can enable or disable the pipelines that are masked.

Re:Can I change the GeForce 7900 GS into a GT!? - 2006/10/17 12:32 I have already tried it. I used the 3DMark05 to get the results. It just increased about 100 marks. Is that okay? My friend say that NVIDIA has a patch on new graghics card so that we can't enabled the pines from software. Can I trust that info? Thank you!

Well that means nothing at all. Your change in score is just normal variation and not the case of unlocking I believe. Unless only some part was unlocked, like either the pipelines or the vertex shaders. And your friend might be right indeed... That is something that NVIDIA is generally doing these days.

Re:Can I change the GeForce 7900 GS into a GT!? - 2006/10/17 17:32 I have tried five different GeForce 7900 GT BIOS's on my GeForce 7900 GS and non of them unlock anything. RivaTuner still shows 7 vertex and 20 pipelines. The GT BIOS works fine but doesn't unlock anything. Waste of time really.

Well that is somehow what I thought. NVIDIA uses now better ways so that you can no longer unlock the extra capabilities of their cards... So thanks for trying this and now we know that it is just not possible.

Re:Can I change the GeForce 7900 GS into a GT!? - 2006/10/18 12:41 I am a Hong Kong person. In my Hong Kong forum, some people change GeForce 7900 GT's to 1.4V. Then use the GeForce 7950 GT BIOS and then the 3DMark is up to more than 8000...

And how do they do that? And with which brand? Cause as far as I am aware that can only be done via some hardware modification using the pencil trick?

Okay thanks for that, but this I know and well that is a hardware modification and if the card goes bad then they can check that and find out that you didn't use as it was designed to. But something similar should also work for the GeForce 7900 GS graphics card. But I ain't a big fan of the hardware modifications...
