Can I change the GeForce 7900 GS into a GT!? - 2006/10/13 13:36 Hello, can I change the Inno3D GeForce 7900 GS into a GT? The GeForce 7900 GT isn't completely the same as the GeForce 7900 GS. The GeForce 7900 GS just have 20 pixel shaders and 7 vertex shaders. The GeForce 7900 GT however has 24 pixel shaders and 8 vertex shaders. I have a question, can I use NiBiTor v3.0a to open the hidden pixel shader and vertex shader? What shall I do? Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot!

This would be the thing to try, instead, I'm not sure the GeForce 7900 GS can be turned into a GT, since they do not have the same memory, althought not sure. And NiBITor v3.0a, can't open vertex and pipelines, well far as I know.

Well the GeForce 7900 GS and GT are actually quite similar, except that normally on the GeForce 7900 GS they make use of G71 chips that don't have all pipes and vertex shaders working. And that is why they have only 20 pipes and 7 vertex shaders enabled. Somehow it isn't even controlled by the BIOS. But the memory on both cards is completely the same 1.4ns rated chips. So if you want to flash your GeForce 7900 GS with a GT BIOS it should work, but I am quite certain it won't unlock your card fully.

I have checked the BIOS, however I can see exactly if the pipes are really disabled in the BIOS. So if you feel up to flashing your card to see if you can unlock it you can just try it with the GeForce 7900 GT BIOS from Inno3D. Or if possible first try with RivaTuner to enable the disabled pipes and/or vertex shaders.

Re:Can I change the GeForce 7900 GS into a GT!? - 2006/10/16 21:26 To help you some extra please look at what I put up as images and how to get in RivaTuner to the place to unlock masked pipelines... First install RiveTuner and then start it up and you should see the screen below.

You should then see your own video card listed under Target Adapter... See my screenshot of with my card details. Of course yours will list your GeForce 6800 XT.

Then you click on Customize on your video adapter and you should get something like shown below, all small icons which you can click. Take the first one!

It should list as Low-Level System Settings when you move over it with your mouse...

Re:Can I change the GeForce 7900 GS into a GT!? - 2006/10/16 21:28 Once you clicked on the first icon it will show up a next screen...all about the Low-Level System Tweaks, like Overclocking, AGP and NVStrap Driver.

Then you choose the NVStrap Driver, as this one is the thing that will be able to show the masked pipelines and to activate em via RivaTuner.

Then change the settings as show below to be able to get to see the config of the pipelines...

And press Customize... A new popup will show up.
