It worked fine also with my MSI GeForce 7900 GTO card too, though I am using version 5.71.22.39.09. I think maybe my version is a little bit cooler, but I am not sure. Change the file name, must have 8 signs before .rom if not, it won't install. I used nvFlash v5.38.
Then used RivaTuner v2 RC16, install it, and then start it, let it detect graphics board and ForceWare drivers. There in the main window you can click on ForceWare detected in the corner, and then on the small icon of a graphics board. There you enable overclocking, and performance 3D.
Then you just drag the marker up a little bit, and push test it, a little bit at the time. Then click Use to keep the settings. And Save it to apply at next sesion. You can also adjust fan speed in the main window where it says 256-bit g71... In the customize corner and motherboard icon. There you can play with the fan speed.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/12 12:00This spreadsheet of the different timings is very interesting. It actually allowed me to run my MSI 7900GTO rock stable at 650/800. In fact the board was stable @650/800 since it could run 3Dmark06 all night long and could play hours of oblivion. BUT, 3Dmark03 (in 1280x1024 AA4X AF 16X) crashed after 1H30@800MHz RAM and 2H00@750MHz RAM.
And I DO NOT want a half stable plateforme. I consider that If an overcloking leads to instability in any program (even if 100% stable - or it seems to - in games) then it is not a valid overcloking. Nothing is more valuable than stability.
So I modified the GTO bios V09 with 800MHz RAM frequency and the BJ11 memory timings hoping it could enable the BJ11 to run @1,8V 800MHz (BJ11 normally run at 900MHz, 2V).
And...
3Dmark03 ran all night without any problem ! Despite the more "relaxed" BJ11 timings, performance is the same : 6057 3Dmark06 800MHz, BJ11 timings 6074 3Dmark06 800MHz, GTO timings
To sum up the GTO situation in the light of my experiments and information one can find on the web : GTO cards ARE NOT GTX because of hardware mods that makes memory run@1,8V instead of 2V. Nevertheless, even a poor overcloking potential card (like mine) is able to run at GTX speed. Performance gain is not that high and we stay in the same class, but the satisfaction to have GTX perf at GTO price is quite pleasant.

I refuse to believe ive come close to hitting my limits at my current clocks of Core: 600 Memory: 740
Ive been suing Coolbits and Riva in unison, using riva to keep ahold of temps and fps during games so i can find out if the card is melting.
Was wondering what you guys could do in the way of clocking this baby up further towards a GTX. at the moment, coolbits is preventing me from clocking it upwards of 800.
Also, im finding that when i run the test function of Riva, it may fail and then i just run it again and it works just fine.

I ended up getting ahold of the Beta version of ATITools that works with Nvidia cards. Managed to clock the card to 570/770 however, when under load via that 3D Image, its getting upto heat levels of 70+. Ill go and invest into a good VGA Cooler before i consider trying to do anything else with it. Its a solid card, runs things fine.
