Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/10 17:46 Can someone overclock my GeForce 7900 GTO? I would greatly appreciate it.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/11 02:13 One of the previous posts has the msi corrected bios on it.

Look for the one with 800 in the bios description line.

It should fix you up once you flash it to your card.

What is the difference in flashing to the GTX bios, versus OCing the GTO on its own?

Any advantage?

I, and a couple of other guys, have the MSI 7900GTO, and we have been experimenting with both BIOS, the 650/800 GTX and GTO mod posted in this thread. We are not shure, but we are discussing if the original GTO timings makes a difference.

The memory clocks about the same, but I don't get scores in 3D Mark 06 that is better in either one of the GTO or GTX BIOS. One of us got 50 points more in 3D Mark06 using the GTO BIOS, but that is not my experince yet. My scores are about the same...

I tried my evga 7900GTO with a GTX bios posted earlier in this topic and was able to achieve better overclocking and 3DMark scores with my gto bios.

Just a note: I bought my first card from zipzoomfly last week and i'm referring to it above. I just got a second one from newegg and it had a newer bios version by about a month. I was unable to overclock it with rivatuner. I flashed it to my backup from the first card and was able to overclock it.

The new bios, the one i couldn't overclock, was: 05.71.22.39.13.
The old bios, the one i could overclock, was: 05.71.22.39.08.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/11 02:41 Interesting. I am using the 5.71.22.39.09, and it overclocks well (714Mhz on core/826 on memory).

Looks like someone is trying to to halt our efforts.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/11 02:55 Mavke,

I just got an EVGA e-GeForce 7900 GTO from ZipZoomFly and I would like to change the current bios to achieve GTX performance. In one of your posts you suggested to check if the card can handle 1600MHz with RivaTuner or CoolBits. I am new to overclocking so could you please give me the steps to check if the card can handle the change? I am attaching my original BIOS backup so you can look at it and if possible can you please make the modification? I will really appreciate it.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/11 04:34 The BIOS version is 05.71.22.39.08.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/11 04:51 OK. I'm wondering if the MSI 7900GTO_mem800 file would work for you since it's a 51.71.22.39.09.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/11 04:52 I clocked up the memory to 800Mhz (1600Mhz effective).

Please check if 800Mhz works with Rivatuner etc. before you flash it. Remember to keep the back-up of the original BIOS on the floppy too!

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/11 06:11 Thank you very much! Did you modify my GTO BIOS or is it a different EVGA BIOS?, just curious. Also, can you tell me how to test the memory clock with RIVATUNER, Thanks.
