So you can use the full GTX power. There will be no checksum issues with nvFlash. But please check if your card can handle 1600MHz with RivaTuner, CoolBits or whatever before... Nice work. I have the EVGA version of this card arriving tommorow, do you have a fixed BIOS for it? I doubt the MSI will work on it or will it? It is just hardware, and needs to be told what to do...

So when you get your card, install it into your PC and just use NiBiTor v3.0a to backup the BIOS and attach it on this thread and we will do the rest.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/04 16:28The EVGA card got 1.2ns memory modules, so 1.2ns means 800MHz (or 1600MHz effective). I am not sure if you can use the MSI BIOS or a GTX BIOS on this card. You should test your card for 1600MHz with RivaTuner, CoolBits or PowerStrip first. It is no problem to modify your EVGA BIOS.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/04 21:33This is my EVGA e-GeForce 7900 GTO BIOS, if it is possible can we try and convert this to a GeForce 7900 GTX version? EVGA e-GeForce 7900 GTO - Bus Type : PCI Express - Memory : 512MB

I think there is no way to convert a GTO BIOS and GTX BIOS. You have to flash a real GTX BIOS to do that. But it is possible to change the memory speed from 1320MHz to 1600MHz. After that you will have the full GTX power. I attached your EVGA BIOS and changed it to 1600MHz memory speed. Again, please check if your card can handle this speed before you flash this BIOS.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/04 22:34If you are willing to flash a real GTX BIOS, you can try this one. Its from an EVGA e-GeForce 7900 GTX. It has 650MHz core and 1600MHz memory clock. Your card will be recognised as a GeForce 7900 GTX after flashing. There will occur some warnings during flashing, you have to confirm a couple of times to continue flashing. Just that nvFlash warns you, because hardware ID's of GTO and GTX do not match.
At your own risk! This works with the MSI GeForce 7900 GTO but I can not test it with an EVGA card, because they are not available here. But is the same way done so it shouldn't give any issues. Both brand use the same reference design as NVIDIA set, so that should be easy to do.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/05 03:42I have now tested the MSI GeForce 7900 GTO, and I realize it's seems to be the real thing. It clocked straight up to 698/1600MHz and works seemlessly on all games. This was a real bargain. And most of all, after overclocking, the temperature only went up 3°C. That pleases me even more. The only thing now, is to alter the BIOS of the MSI card, 1600MHz on memory is max, and this is the first time I've maxed out a card...

There are Samsung 1.1ns memory modules used, too. I know a few people who own this card too and everybody reached 1600MHz easily at the memory modules. Average overclocking potential was 1660-1800MHz. So I guess its no second rate quality GTX, its a real one. Looks like without altered BIOS on the card, I reach maximum at 701/1650MHz or 722/1600MHz.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/06 08:57I flashed a MSI GeForce 7900 GTX BIOS over to the GeForce 7900 GTO card, and it works really fine. The highest practical clock is 716MHz core and 1642MHz on memory. I noticed that the NiBiTor program can alter the voltages on the card. Is it possible to increase it a little? Like from 1.4V to 1.45V for instance?
