Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/09/26 13:17 Just wondering who would already have such a card? Cause I saw that MSI released their card and it is quite a nice card as it comes clocked at 650MHz core and 1320MHz memory... So meaning the same core clocks as the GTX and memory clocks of the GT. If you have such a card let us know.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/09/26 14:54 I just gotten to know that the GeForce 7900 GTO should be able to make it fully to a GTX, however it would be good that we have someone who can give us some more details on the card and as well to provide us the BIOS. Then we can make sure to add the support in NiBiTor as well.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/09/28 03:08 I own this card and it is a real GTX. The PCB, GPU, memory... Everything is like the GTX card. There are Samsung 1.1ns memory modules used, too. I know a few people who own this card too and everybody reached 1600MHz easily at the memory modules. Average overclocking potential was 1660-1800MHz. So I guess its no second rate quality GTX, its a real one.

It is possible to flash a GTX BIOS but the BIOS version at the GTO card is quite newer, so I would not recommend it. Its more safe to edit the original BIOS I guess. If you need more information, please tell me. I check this forum every 1-3 days.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/09/28 03:48 How do you edit the GeForce 7900 GTO BIOS? Would you care to explain?

Well you need to start using NiBiTor v3.0a... That tool is made for this and it is just very easy to backup your original BIOS on your card. Also attach your original BIOS on this thread. Once you have the backup you can easily start changing almost anything with NiBiTor on it. And you just need to change the memory speed from 660MHz (1320MHz effective) to 800MHz (1600MHz effective). If you can supply your original BIOS we can even do it for you.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/09/28 15:49 Here you go, I attached the original GeForce 7900 GTO BIOS and changed memory clock to 1600MHz. So you can use the full GTX power. There will be no checksum issues with nvFlash. But please check if your card can handle 1600MHz with RivaTuner, CoolBits or whatever before...

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/09/28 17:33 Oh, man...that was really quick. Thanks. This is really impressive. Yeah, I'm awaiting the card from the dealer any time now, and will of course check if it handles memory increase from 1320MHz to 1600MHz before I change the GTO BIOS. I think quite honestly, that the GTO cards really is hard to beat when it comes to the performance/pricetag.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/09/30 01:36 Can a modification be done so this has HDCP support? MWave and ZZF have these in stock for $250-260...

As far as I know current VGA cards need the Sil1930 chip for HDCP. If you don't find this chip at your card it does not support HDCP. I can not find this chip at my GeForce 7900 GTO so HDCP is unavailable. MSI tells HDCP is optional, so I don't know if there are any GTO's around with a Sil1930 chip.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/02 17:17 Think I'll have any problems if I try to add this as my SLI card, my current primary being a GeForce 7900 GTX 512MB...?
