It did indeed work for me as well. So thanks for all this info and how to get it fixed... Nice to see Connect3D finally came with the solution.
Thanks for the feedback. I am glad to get these confirmations and it does proof that Connect3D has some cards in error which we assumed somehow but didn't get any confirmation. At last they came with the solution.

Well I am glad we could finally help out although it was finally Connect3D that put some person on it to get the issue resolved and released a BIOS to fix it.

Re:Request:Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/04/01 20:14 Hi to all, I read this thread with great interest as I am also having problems getting this card to work on my PC although my card is the 512MB version. After installing the card and rebooting my display goes blank at the point where I would normally get the XP login/user selection screen. I have installed the driver from the CD that came with the card which, according to the CD is version 10.5. and have, after reading this thread, downloaded but not yet tried installing version 6.5 of the display driver from the Connect3D website.

I have convinced myself that I need to flash the card as described but, never having flashed a card or motherboard before, although I have done almost everything else, I thought I would seek confirmation from the users of this forum first. My motherboard is the ASUS A8V Deluxe. The BIOS build date is June 17 2004. My current card is the NVIDIA GeForce FX5900 XT. Another issue is that I don't seem to be able to uninstall the driver for my current card. It's not showing in add/remove programs and if I use Device manager I get message to the effect that the driver can't be removed as it may be needed... If I disable the device I can't then use the card without booting back to a last known good configuration.

Getting pretty damn fed-up with this now having spent many hours scouring the internet for a solution and multiple card swaps and reboots! Could anyone tell me if the solution posted will resolve my problem or even suggest some other solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Re:Request:Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/04/02 10:36 Okay, just to clarify cause you are talking about the Connect3D and an NVIDIA GeForce FX5900 XT graphics card? So do you mean your old card is the GeForce FX5900 XT that you are replacing with the Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO? But instead of the 256MB version you got the 512MB version? If so then okay that is clarified. The main thing you then need to to get the new BIOS for that card as you can't use the 256MB version. So you will have to contact Connect3D support to get that BIOS update...

Re:Request:Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/04/02 15:43 Hi, thanks for the reply and yes the situation is as you stated. I will get in touch with Connect3D for the BIOS update for the 512MB version of the Radeon X1600 PRO as per your post. Can I assume that the upgrade is carried out in the same way as for the 256MB card? Sorry to sound a bit slow but I need to make sure so that I don't trash my card! Thanks again.

Re:Request:Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/04/02 19:06 Yes, that is correct I would assume the same. You will just need to get the BIOS update/fix and then to flash your graphics card to get it fixed and working. Same process as for the 256MB version.

Re:Request:Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/04/02 20:24 Thanks again for your help and advice Mavke. Am now just waiting for Connect3D to get back to me. Will let you know how I get on and if I manage to get the BIOS update from them I'll post it here in case someone else comes along who needs it.

Re:Request:Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/04/02 21:56 Okay, great and you are welcome. You might also want to check their forums as the person at Connect3D also replied on their forums about the issue... Just a thought to get it a bit quicker.
