Look what I found in another forums, someone contacted Connect3D... That's crap support from this manufacturer, its the last time I buy their products. If anyone got more info please keep me updated...
Okay, that is indeed support that can't be called support. So can you somehow provide me the Catalyst 6.4 driver that came with the Connect3D card? And also the BIOS of your card? I will take a deeper look into this and if required try myself to contact Connect3D...

Re:Request: Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/01/08 18:46 Hey registered just for this thread here, I have the exact same problem as well.

My hardware is as follows:
Connect 3d Radeon x1600 pro 256MB pci-express
Asrock 939 Dual_SATA II
1024MB Kingston Ram
Onboard sound and raid

6.5 and above do not work. I've contacted both ATI and Connect 3d as well. ATI is claiming that that it's probably an issue with chipset drivers as the only issue they knew of with the drivers not working was from 6.5 and up but was resolved around 6.9 or 6.10 and supposedly only affected VIA chipset motherboards.

I'm actually hesitant to really blame either side because as far as I can tell the hardware works, if I'm using cat 6.4 I can run any game for any length of time with any settings I want, it works as it should and then all of a sudden 6.5 hits and it's no longer a good card?

So you're not alone. I just got done with a response from Paul actually and he said that 6.9 supposedly rectified this, I'm not sure if he's thinking it does effect the issue we're having or if it's the VIA thing he's thinking of but that's what he said, so I'm going to play more with it than I did before.

Edit-- I also just a few days ago asked specifically if there was a new BIOS from Connect3d and they said no, there's no newer BIOS.

As far as drivers go, if you're going to take a look the plain ATI ones from ati.com will work as well provided they're 6.3 or 6.4.

Re:Request: Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/01/08 18:57 Thanks Riley, but i think in our case in not a via isua, i got an asus Motherboard whit an intel chipset, the PW5DH Deluxe and an Intel Core2Duo E6600, i havent tried whit the official Catalyst 6.4 from the ATI website, but im going to give it a try only for testing purposes

Re:Request: Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/01/08 19:05 Oh I know it's not a VIA issue, my motherboards chipset is Uli based and I have the problem, I'm just repeating what ATI thinks it was. They had me download an ATI Diagnostic tool which does nothing but check what's installed and had me send that to them and after that just assumed it was the chipset.

I found this thread last month but didn't want to reply yet so gave them a link since the original poster was on a different chipset as me but that didn't seem to change their stance. Now that ATI's gone bust and just claims chipset driver everytime and connect 3d claims there's no new BIOS so I'm kinda stuck. Was hoping I'd have an actual answer for the thread instead of just saying "me too" but alas it isn't so. I've also asked for a bios at connect3d's USA support forum but that so far has also been useless.

I do recommend that you and the original poster however maybe also chime in there so they know it's not just me. I don't know how many people have contacted them but I've been playing with connect3d's international site(the propellerhead one) since August 1st. Maybe the forum will get better results since it's out in the open, or deleted I don't know.

Re:Request: Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/01/29 02:53 Hey
I have gone round and round with Connect 3D over this issue since Jan 2006 Tthe issue has never been resolved. ATI had said that there is a known issue with some 1600 cards from Connect 3D. Connect 3D says they know nothing about it. I posted Connect 3Ds response on another board ages ago, but I am afraid everyone with this issue is out of luck.

Here was Connect 3Ds response
[your initial question...] I have been trying to update to the 6.6 catalyst frivers with no success, ATI informed me that it will require a bio update, and the it is a known issue with some saphire anad connect3d cards????

[paul - 12/7/2006 10:16:32] Hi, thanks for your message and sorry to hear you are experiencing problems. We are not aware of any BIOS updates for this, however if there is no problems with your current driver then we would advise you to stick with it until a later version comes out that will support every card like it should do. But if you have any difficulties with this, please let us know. Thanks Paul

[you - 7/10/2006 6:20:31] This is still an ongoing issue no drivers above 6.4 will work, ATI support says there is a known issue that can only be corrected with a bios update. I hve 6.9 drivers installed now and in display properties it says bios info unavailable dac unavailable memory unavailable adapter string unavailable

[paul - 9/10/2006 9:34:13] Hi, thanks for your message and for letting us know. Unfortunately we still do not have an updated driver and are not aware that a BIOS update will solve this issue, if ATI believe this, have they not offered this to you via download or told you where to obtain it?. Hope all remains well, however if any queries or problems please keep us posted. Kind regards Paul

Well it is very easy, the BIOS is attached below... So you will also need the ATIFlash program or whatever problem to flash an ATI based graphics card. You best use ATIFlash v3.25 and you will need to use the following listed commands...

ATIFlash v3.xx Commands...
"atiflash -p 0 3049.rom -f" (Normal BIOS Flash)

Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO
- Memory : 256MB
- Bus Type : PCI Express
File Attachment:
File name: 3049.rom

Re:Request:Connect3D Radeon X1600 PRO 256MB BIOS... - 2007/01/31 01:30 It did indeed work for me as well. So thanks for all this info and how to get it fixed... Nice to see Connect3D finally came with the solution.
