Though choice, upgrade question... Any advice? - 2006/09/27 05:58 Hello, I am wondering. I will have bout $200 to spend on computer stuff and I am stuck between three items.
  1. Video: GeForce 7600 GT in SLI or Radeon X1900 GT

  2. Mainboard: DFI Infinity 975X (replace ASUS nForce 570)

  3. CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
I am leaning towards a Radeon X1900 GT what you all think?

Re:Though choice, upgrade question... Any advice? - 2006/09/27 08:39 Mmm... Indeed a though choice. I myself would go for the Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 as it can be easily clocked to 2.8GHz and provides excellent preformance. And okay the Radeon X1900 GT might be a good thing to go for but I would wait a bit as there should be a lower end card coming based on the Radeon X1950 series...

Re:Though choice, upgrade question... Any advice? - 2006/09/27 11:13 I would agree with Mavke on this one ,you will definatly get the longer term bang for your buck, out of the e6300 core Duo processor ,as long as your 570 board and 7600 gt and memory are all copistatic, thats where you will also see the biggest performance boost.

Re:Though choice, upgrade question... Any advice? - 2006/09/28 04:44 Well after much deliberation . I decided to go forth with a x1900gt , reason bc this 570 Mb just doesnt clock very well and it be a shame to put an awsome cpu on it and not be able to clock it right ... so what my plans are . i will be selling my 7600gt and a spare 805 and with that go get me a DFI Infinity 975x ( now this board will Serve the mighty conroe well ...... ) then hopefully if things keep goin i will get me a conroe shortly after ....
