Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2007/01/10 10:02 You would have to reinstall RivaTuner again or the rebuild command which I could never find, lol. I'm a n00b, so I always uninstall RivaTuner and reinstall when upgrading drivers.

I had already checked the apply overclocking at windows startup, box. And my startup settings are 680/1572MHz. Is it advisable to slow he clock speeds down or should I leave them as they worked before. Thanks.
If you install new drivers, you need to make sure you first of all undo the overclocking, if it was done via software. And if you use RivaTuner also uninstall it first. I use PowerStrip as there you can easily revert back to the default speeds before uninstalling and installing new drivers.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2007/01/11 02:02 Thanks for the help. I was having gaming issues with hanging etc and couldn't work out how. Then after visiting NVIDIA site I realised how much of an arse I am. I had GeForce Go 6 and 7 series drivers which is of course the notebook version. The max I have been able to get out of my card is about 670MHz core and about 1500MHz memory. And whenever I try and play Scarface with these settings its very unstable as it keeps hanging.

This problem is solved by setting the clock speeds to there default values which is a pain in the ass every time I wanna play. Has anyone got any ideas as to why my card won't clock any higher and why I'm having hanging problems in Scarface. Thanks again to all for previous help it has been very helpful.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2007/01/11 08:23 Mmm, and what happens when you run the card at 650/1500MHz? So meaning leave the core clock at the default speed of 650MHz but you increase the memory speed to 1500MHz. Somehow it might be just the core that can't do much more then it is set at...

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2007/01/14 04:05 Hi thanks again for your quick correspondance, I have set the memory clock to 1500MHz, it will allow me to go all the way up to about 1580MHz, leaving the core clock at 650MHz. But as I said before any time I overclock it, all of my games hang. I have to reset the clock speed to default. This is a pain in the ass as with games like F.E.A.R., when overclocking is applied all settings are maxed and the game runs smooth as a whistle, but because of the hanging I have to default settings and then there is a slight sticking obviuosly because the card is running slower. Can you think of any reason why the games/card can't handle being overclocked. Thanks for all help previously.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2007/01/14 13:20 Well it is not only games, but in games you see it as those stress the system and the card... Now with the card being set at 650/1500MHz does it hang as well? I would think not, as from what I can read it seems linked to your core clock speed alone? If so then you can't do anything more, and you are having one of the least good G71 cores. And yeah that can happen...
