Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/12/05 09:02 I have a GeForce 7900 GTO. But it seems I can't flash it. So I've clocked it over to GTX speeds, seems to work fine here.

That would be strange... You can flash normally every card, so what did you try? And why do you think you can't flash your card...

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/12/05 12:32 It always says, no NVIDIA display adapters found. So I can't flash my card as it seems not to be there...

Which version of nvFlash are you using? Cause as far as I know you might not be using the best version... I would stronly suggest to always use the latest version first on newer cards, so can you try nvFlash v5.38?

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2007/01/05 02:28 Hi all, I have never tried overclocking before sorry to be a pain in the ass, but I've purchased an MSI GeForce 7900 GTO due to reading up on them and discovering its just a GTX in disguise. I have RivaTuner which I can view and amend clock speeds etc. But after I have changed speeds through RivaTuner do I need to flash my card?

Any help is very much appreciated as I'm a complete beginner. Also if the BIOS needs flashing how do I do this. I've read your previous threads and have downloaded NiBiTor v3.0a. I see that you have helped before by changing BIOS for users if this is possible it would be great thanks again.

Well you don't need to flash anything, first see if your card works fine by just setting the clock speeds with RivaTuner and try that for some days to a week. This to make sure the card can really handle it. If so then you might want to think about BIOS flashing your card, and that means let the BIOS set the clock speeds and removing RivaTuner...

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2007/01/06 16:31 Thanks very much for making that clearer I am still awaiting delivery but when it arrives I will give it a go.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2007/01/09 01:53 Hi, I posted reply last week saying that I was waiting the delivery of my MSI GeForce 7900 GTO. I have taken delivery and installed my card. The only problem is when I open RivaTuner it says my core clock speed is 650MHz but my memory clock speed is only 660MHz. I have checked the enable driver level hardware overclocking, I have read in this forums that it should come clocked at 1320MHz, can anyone help me. Also when I open RivaTuner it says the card is MSI GeForce 7900 GT/GTO is this the same card or is it different? I'm a little disappointed any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Okay, you don't know really how it works. So the 650MHz core that is normal as you state, so no problem there. And also no problem with the memory as 660MHz is really 1320MHz effective. That is how it works on graphics cards. So in all overclocking tools you will see 660MHz and you have to double that to get the effective speed so in your case 1320MHz. Nothing wrong, just normal stuff.

Also when I open RivaTuner it says the card is MSI GeForce 7900 GT/GTO is this the same card or is it different? I'm a little disappointed any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
Again, just normal and that is because NVIDIA is sharing the device ID between the GT and GTO. So in the drivers they have to give a name to each device ID and since that is the same for the GT and GTO they are naming it GeForce 7900 GT/GTO...

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2007/01/10 02:39 Hi folks, I was told by friend to update my graphics card drivers. So I did. Before I updated my drivers I could get 680MHz core speed and 1572MHz memory speed. Now when I try changing settings its says driver failed to pass internal test with the clock frequencies you are about to set. Please decrease clock frequencies and try again. I had already checked the apply overclocking at windows startup, box. And my startup settings are 680/1572MHz. Is it advisable to slow he clock speeds down or should I leave them as they worked before. Thanks.
