Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/13 10:34 Hi. I have MSI 7900 GTO and after some testing to be sure that the card is ok at 715/825 I decided to flash it with a modified bios. I backed-up my original bios with Nibitor 3.0a and modified it. The problem is that after the flash the card stays aways in 3d mode....I lost 2d/Thrtl modes. If I restore the original bios the problem stays....I tested my back-up Bios and MSI 7900GTO.PCIe.512MB.Rev.01.zip from this site without success. What can I do to have again 2d/Thrtl/3D and not just 3D-1.4v all the time??? 10x!

The second question is about the fan of the card....up till 65C of the core it stays at 50% duty cycle - 1200rpm. I can change the rpms with Rivatuner, but I think that it has to be automatic with the rise оf the temperature?

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/13 14:36 Hi,
Did you check "change amount of active performance levels" in the Clockrates tab of Nibitor ?

2d/thrtl/3D values are also very important indeed :

my GTO is stable with :
3D 650/800
thrtl 630/660

But is not with :
3D 650/800
thrtl 650/800

Thrtl 630/800 is under testing but I'm afraid the instability is because of 800 mem (despite BJ11 timings) instead of 660

If it is because of mem, the next step is to find max mem stable in any case and try :

3D 650/800
thrtl 630 / max mem

Best regards from France.

No, I didn't....should I? I just set the mem at 825....nothing else. And the back-up bioses are intact

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/10/20 13:05 How do you see / what do you mean "the card stays in 3D mode" ?

When you edit the bios with nibitor, do you see see core / memory frequency values for 3D, throttle and 2D modes in the clokrates tab ?

If so, it's all right.

Best regards from France.

This Xpertvision card is for sure not a GTO. Its a 7900 GT so dont try to flash a GTO bios. It will make the card unusable.
Hi! I have bought a MSI GeForce 7900 GTO and overclocked at 700/1500MHz. The results were as follows, 3DMark03 20610 and 3DMark05 9060. That is less then the results I saw on the net so I flashed GeForce 7900 GTX BIOS. I gained nothing except faster memory with 700/1600MHz and the results were less than the first time, 3DMark03 20100 and 3DMark05 8960.

So I wanna flash your BIOS v...39.09 you sent at the first page DonTango. First time I did the flash, I typed the command with "-4 -5 -6" and what do I type now. Same or what. Better ask no matter if its stupid. I'm sending the GeForce 7900 GTX BIOS I flashed and my default BIOS v...39.15 which is the backup BIOS. Thank you.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/12/03 11:36 To flash any BIOS you just use the same command that you have used in the past. There is no change as it doesn't depend on what BIOS that you are using. So just take the BIOS you want and flash your card and see if it makes any difference. The difference will be that the memory timings are slightly different, the GTO mainly uses more strict timings and therefore the memory is acting a bit quicker resulting in better performance but less able to overclock.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/12/04 15:38 Hi there! I would like to know the correct order to overclock my GTO. Do I have to used NiBiTor together with another application? How do you actually edit the BIOS so it would gives 1600MHz instead of the default 1320MHz? I've been reading all the post related to the GTO on this forum and I'm very confused.

By the way, when I look in the NVIDIA properties window to check my card temperature, I see it says 35°C. Is this normal? Cause I'm seeing people that have temperature of 55°C and the likes. Well I also have a very nice cooling system, but the difference of 20°C degrees is a bit alarming. Thanks...

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/12/04 16:01 Well if you use NiBiTor that means that you will first need to backup your BIOS and then edit the BIOS, save it and after that flash it on your card to have what you like. So overclocking like that is not the way to go. First you need to overclock via the application way and once you know what speeds your card can run at you can do that change on the BIOS and flash your card. I always use PowerStrip for overclocking...

On the temps I wouldn't be too worried... My GeForce 7950 GT set at 650/1600MHz (like a GTX) runs at 38°C and under heavy load it goes up to 48-52°C. So a lot depends on the cooling of the system and room temps and so on. So I wouldn't really worry about it. The cooler the better as always.

Re:Who saw or owns a GeForce 7900 GTO card...? - 2006/12/04 23:26 Thanks for the Information. Please bear with me a little longer. After using NiBiTor to backup the GTO BIOS. How do I edit the BIOS so it will have 1600MHz instead of 1320MHz? And how can I find out if my video card can support 1600MHz speeds?

Once you made the backup also attach the BIOS on this thread. But what you need to do is just open the BIOS with NiBiTor and you can change the values that you see. So you actually change the memort speed to 800MHz (which is 1600MHz effective). How to test it first, you use RivaTuner or PowerStrip to overclock your card first and check if all games and 3DMark06 work fine...
