Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 mainboard question? - 2006/08/31 10:38 I just bought a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 motherboard with Core 2 Duo E6600 processor. I have two questions if someone knows something about, please answer me. The board has a 2x4 CPU power connector. Do I have to connect them both for the Core 2 Duo processors or just 1x4 it's okay? Also the board has an extra VGA power molex connector above the DIMM sockets. In the manual it is called PCIE_12V (Power connector). Do I have to connect it or just the 6-pin power connector on my GeForce 7900 GTX is okay?

In the manual it says, the PCIE_12V power connector supplies extra power to the PCIE x16 slot. Connect this connector depending on your system requirements. Please anyone help me as Gigabyte support it's a little bit slow and I want to set up my new system this weekend. Thanks!

Re:Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 mainboard question? - 2006/08/31 15:19 well, the best would be to put the 2x4 pins, has I don't know if you need it, but the 4 pin molex, this one is I think, when you run 2x card (this board is crossfire?), but it should give a better stability to the system (I have one on ly Abit KN8-SLI, and I plug it the first I start the board, and no problem with it

Re:Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 mainboard question? - 2006/08/31 20:27 ChristTheGreat thank you for your answers. In the manual says only about the Core 2 Duo extreme that you must connect both 4pin CPU power connectors. For E6600,6400,6300... doesn't say something to connect or not.I'm afraid not to "burn" my brand new and hard to find around here E6600 as new Core 2 Duo doesn't need much power as I read in reviews around the world.
For the VGA power connector now.The board does not support SLI nor Crossfire.Just two PCI-E VGAs.The first x16 and the second just x4.It's only for multi monitor purposes.Maybe if I but a second VGA then I have to connect it
but don't know for sure.Manual is not so enlightening and still I have no answer for Gigabyte's support.
