Info about overclocking Athlon 64 X2 Processor? - 2006/08/24 16:47 Hey guys. I overclocked my AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ to 2640MHz (11x 240MHz) but the vcore I've been able to put minimum to be stable, is 1.51V. If I run the CPU at that vcore, and using stress test CPU during long time (I did 24hrs last time) during a month, do you think the CPU could be able to run at a lower vcore? Like 1.49V or 1.47V...

Re:Info about overclocking Athlon 64 X2 Processor? - 2006/08/24 19:41 Mmm, good question. I somehow don't believe so... Normally a CPU requires a good burn in period and that is normally after about 24-72 hours of running it at 100%. I use for that a special program to decrypt a code. You know about that RC5-64 cracking contest some years ago? That tool is just awesome to run the CPU at full 100%...

Re:Info about overclocking Athlon 64 X2 Processor? - 2006/08/24 19:50 I never heard about that. I was using Prime 95 for single CPU, but I wasn't able to run it 2 times for dual core. So I took SP2004 (which is the same thing as Prime 95). You have the single core version (you can open it 2 times for dual core), or SP2004 ortho, that you open one time, and your Athlon 64 X2 will run at 100%. With that program, you download it and run, and that's all?

Re:Info about overclocking Athlon 64 X2 Processor? - 2006/08/24 19:54 Yeps you download and you run it and normally it puts all the CPU's to work at 100%. It actually takes all the CPU power that is still free/available and that leads to always having 100% occupation. So you can actually still work with other programs at the same time, and the distributed.net client will just take all the remaining available CPU power and use it. I use it always to perform a burn in on my CPU...

Re:Info about overclocking Athlon 64 X2 Processor? - 2006/08/24 20:08 and it's working fine? I think I'm going to try it.
