How to:Overclock an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor!? - 2006/08/24 13:15 Well since these Intel Core 2 Duo are quite popular and can be overclock quite well I am just wondering how we can get the best out of this processor and what needs to be taken into account as settings to achieve the highest overclocking. This will be based upon the Core 2 Duo E6300...

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Settings
- Multiplier : Locked at 7x
- Bus Speed : 266MHz
- Core Speed : 1.86GHz
- Core Voltage : 1.3V

Now since you can change quite a lot on the recent Intel mainboards (powered by either the i975X, P965 or G965) concerning the voltages, namely CPU, Chipset, memory it would be great to exchange what has been done to overclock your Core 2 Duo processor to higher levels.

Re:How to:Overclock an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor!? - 2006/08/24 15:26 Well, from what I saw on other website, it's the same thing. Set the minimum vcore recommended, increase FSB by 5MHz. For the memory set a divider to set it lower, so the frequencies won't go over the specified frequencies (like 800MHz), to know what's the maximum the CPU can go. After, it's the memory you need to tweak.

There is not that much difference, except DDR2... It's the same overclocking. When you are under the stock memory speed, and you have freeze, or blue screen, or Super PI can't be done at all, or SP 2004 gives you an error, increase a little bit the vcore (remember that you need two Prime 95 or SP 2004 for dual core, to run CPU at 100%)...

Re:How to:Overclock an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor!? - 2006/08/24 16:06 Well I can tell you it is not the same as also the chipset voltage has to be increased as that one will work faster as well depending on the change in FSB and with high speeds on the chipset it also needs more voltage. So the goal is to put all those details together and come with the results on how high other Core 2 Duo E6300 owners gotten it overclocked and how, including all parameters and on which mainboard.

Re:How to:Overclock an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor!? - 2006/08/24 16:10 Did you tried to overclock it? I just talked to some people in France, and it's seems to be easy to overclock a Core 2 Duo. The guy have a Core 2 Duo E6700 overclocked to 3.6GHz... I'll try to get more informations about.

Re:How to:Overclock an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor!? - 2006/08/24 16:15 Yes of course... But I was not really that sure, so I did just the easy way and gotten my Core 2 Duo E6300 clocked at 1.86GHz upto 2.56GHz. Now I seeking to get up to 2.8GHz or higher...

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 OC Settings
- Multiplier : Locked at 7x
- Bus Speed : 366MHz (Increased)
- Core Speed : 2.56GHz
- Core Voltage : 1.375V (Increased)
- Chipset Voltage : 1.55V (Increased)

Re:How to:Overclock an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor!? - 2006/08/24 16:21 What about the memory? How have you set that? Can you give some details?

Well I have the high-end Crucial DDR2 PC2-8000 memory, a total of 2GB which is set to handle 1000MHz (PC2-8000), but I set the memory at DDR2-800 (800MHz) and the default voltage of 2.2V... I have got the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe (i975X chipset)mainboard.

Re:How to:Overclock an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor!? - 2006/08/24 16:30 You have a very nice computer right now. What are the temp you have with that Core 2 Duo?

Well I have no exact figure right now, but the heatsink is quite okay to touch meaning, that it doesn't feel warm actually. So the temps are not the problem...
