PowerColor Radeon X850 XT artifacts... - 2006/03/20 09:50 Hello, I bought a Radeon X850 XT from PowerColor. I changed the stock cooler (very noisy) by a Zalman ZM-GWB2 waterblock VGA cooler and I put the ram heatsinks. When the memory temperture come to 38°C I have a lots of artifacts... It happens after 5 minutes in 3DMark05. The card is not overclocked. I would like to know if there is a solution to this problem (with the stock cooler I don't have any problem).

Re:PowerColor Radeon X850 XT artifacts... - 2006/03/20 13:25 Well it is not the memory that is the issue but the core normally... A Radeon X850 XT (and even the Radeon X1800 for that matter) seems to have issue when they are watercooled. Seems that the cards thing it gets to hot or something. But I find then strange is that you get artifacts. Others just get lower performance due to the ATI protection kicks in. Mmm with the standard cooling could you overclock core and memory? And when done did you get artifacts?

Re:PowerColor Radeon X850 XT artifacts... - 2006/03/22 18:42 with the stock cooler I could
overclock the core to 580 and the memory to 590
with the waterblock I don t overclock the core much 560
and the memory to 570

the artefact appear when the memory is at 40°c

i think that the memory could heat much a like 55-60°c

I try to change the timing with the sapphire x850xt
and the memory dont heat but some artefact appear after 5mn

the artefact looks like a lots of point of different color (artefact due to the memory )

ps: memory is samsung

Re:PowerColor Radeon X850 XT artifacts... - 2006/07/18 03:29 ive just started to get this problem with a ge-cube x850 xt-pe. i put it down to it being very warm here in the uk (33 degrees c). this is with stock cooling though and all i do is use riva tuner and throttle up the fan to 100% and then everything is fine.

mind u it starts to artifact at a lowish temp (56 degrees c) alot cooler than my 9800 xt used to get before artifacting (85 degrees c)
