Re:Site feedback... Ideas... - 2006/03/30 11:31 site/forum feedback general.

When a site has great content, people will put up with a lot of design/layout problems and issues. Imho that's a bit the case here;

there's tons of valuable info here with the BIOS downloads, mods and support through the forums. However I think that a nice invision or phppbb free forum software board will increase the forum activity tenfold:
- layout uses full screen
- familiar forum design, so visitor will know it more instinctivly
- better support/features

site wise I would consider increasing the overall font size by +2, it's really too small to comfortably read, even at 1024x768; but seeing as this is a hardware enthusiast site most people will be running higher resolutions (1280x1024 and up) so it's really hard to read.

content on the site is really good (even though the text is small) but the forums needs to be looked at imho.

Re:Site feedback... Ideas... - 2006/03/30 12:10 Thanks mate! Very decent and valuable feedback. On the forums I have been looking at it but that means a full DB conversion so I am finding out if there are some easy ways to go for that. But indeed it would be better to have a full blown forum. On the fonts size I am looking as well but the one thing that I seems to miss is that when comparing to other sites like HardOCP and I don't see much difference... Can someone shed some light? Or is it just me...

Re:Site feedback... Ideas... - 2006/03/30 12:30 I don't know; but the text is really really too small look at the attachment

concerning the Simpleboard to xxx conversion; depending on your funds you can go for a full blown invisionboard or vbulletin and get very good chance to do an import.

vbulletin: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/impex_tier_2 (can import directly)
invision: http://www.invisionpower.com/ip.dynamic/products/board/whyuse.html (simple board can be converted to simple machines and then to invision)

Re:Site feedback... Just provide your ideas... - 2006/03/30 12:32 I didn't forget the attach, but the board told me it was too big and then posted my message anyway?

Re:Site feedback... Ideas... - 2006/03/30 12:55 Thanks for the update! I will look into this further. What would you think of SMF Forum? Simple Machine Forum? Cause that one has full support to work fine with the CMS system that we use. For Latest Posts modules to work and stuff...

Re:Site feedback... Ideas... - 2006/03/30 13:01 well, I think if you can place the current forum to http://www.mvktech.net/forums so it can be seen full screen (not trapped between a quite narrow site borders) it'll be good also imho.

furthermore lastest posts are very easy to get from a mysql database, needs one small query. should not be limiting your forum choice.

is it possible to let the forum be moved to its own space (banners in forums work best at the top and near the bottom fyi ) and increase font size? that would please many I think.

I must admit that the main reason I don't visit these forums often is that they hard to read and take ages to load with all the none-forum related content being loaded each time you do an action (post/view) in the forum.

Re:Site feedback... Ideas... - 2006/03/30 13:21 Point taken and I think I will have to shift this on my todo points as a priority. Thank you for this valuable feedback, now it is all up to me to check and get something done. At least I know now why some visitors don't check the forums often...

Re:Site feedback... Ideas... - 2006/03/30 14:46 I'd also second the forum/font change. While I adjusted to it, many new users may not take the patience to do so.

Also, have you heard of Joomla? It's basically Mambo with the new improved user base and the old Mambo developers. The Mambo is no longer the same. There has been a dispute between the trademark holders and the real coders. Regardless the Mambo project is basically dead, as the original coders have crossed-over to form Joomla.

Actually, I think there is some people that only post to resolve their problem. That's kinda true, and that's ok. This site is for modding VGA bios. But you have a few helpers, that can help moding vga bios, and give support too,for people that areasking for other problem !!

NVIDIA GeForce BIOS 1581 11657

You see? Question on nVidia BIOS, there is a huge difference between the general discussion.

-There is one thing true. Loading..... Actually, the loading is medium.
-I think it will depends of the person if its hard to read... I have no difficulties to read the forum.
-With the new post on the index, this is really nice !!! So, maybe to look if there is alot of people that think it's hard to read, but loading should be the one to look more at. If it's faster, maybe this would help alot.
