Re:Intel finally set to smash AMD in performance stakes - 2006/03/09 20:28 And some other link as well from another site who has been working with the same systems with Intel... It's hard not to be extremely impressed with the performance we've been witness to in our early preview testing with Intel's new 65nm Dual-Core Processor, code named Conroe.
Intel Conroe Benchmarks: Showing Big Strength

Re:Intel finally set to smash AMD in performance stakes - 2006/03/09 20:54 Yeah Conroe is taking a huge lead over the Athlon FX-60 overclocked to 2.8GHz. But it's in 90nm, and Conroe in 65nm. Yes Intel have a good performer here, but I keep in mind that AMD will not stay like that and get owned by the Conroe. When AMD is going to release their 65nm cpu, we'll see what's the diffrence now. But for now, Intel seems to finally take the lead, after a really bad year. Only the time will give us the answer, and we will have to wait lol! By the way, will Intel have again 33 errors in the CPU? Lol, we'll see when it will be released.

Re:Intel finally set to smash AMD in performance stakes - 2006/03/09 21:17 Mmm well let's hope that AMD then sets new roadmaps cause as far as I had seen on some sites the 65nm was only scheduled for 2007... And don't start about the errors in an Intel CPU as AMD isn't any better on that!

I don't know about AMD 64, didn't saw any articles on that, but I know for Intel Core Duo and Solo, there were 33 bugs, and Intel would correct only 1... I wish that the Conroe will not have to face these bugs!

It's about time too, Intel fans have been waiting a long time, lol!

Re:Intel finally set to smash AMD in performance stakes - 2006/03/10 21:30 Yes the numbers were amazing on the Cornroe. We still don't know how performance jump from DDR1 to DDR2 will be. Kind of like the Socket 754 to 939, even the old Socket 754 Clawhammer 3700+ still pawns and performance for it is about the same level reaching dawgs FX's. So who knows what kind of performance jump we'll see with AM2?

But anyway, I consider this pure marketing ploy, as this has created lots of discussion and flame on forums all around, as Intel still needs to deliver this, and we're only getting fanboys predicting the apocalypse.

You are right on that but at least it is a good sign With other processors Intel never has been able to really outperform AMD lately so all in all it is a good view in the near future. I for one am holdng of my next PCI Express system to go for a Conroe based SLI/CrossFire cable system based upon the i975X chipset.
