ATI R590, Radeon X1800 GTO on it's way? - 2006/02/15 16:18 It seems that the new roadmap of ATI could be known as the R590. Maybe for March, the R590 should be based on the R580 but would work with lower clocks and some functionnalities disable (maybe less shaders). The exact specification are not known for now, but the card should have 256MB GDDR3. While using the R590 core, the card could be known as the Radeon X1800 GTO. Maybe it will be like the Radeon X800 GTO, and we could unlock the pipes, and overclock the card as high as a Radeon X1900 XT!

The R590 ASIC is effectively the Radeon X1900 core, but at a lower clock speed with some disabled features. Expect to see the card retail as the Radeon X1800 GTO. The roadmap revealed that these cards will come with 256MB of memory. The Radeon X1800 GTO as it uses a dedicated R590 ASIC spun specifically for these card models so unlocking is not possible. The 80nm R600 would be available this October.

Well you can be 99% sure it won't be able to unlock... Just as AnandTech has indicated and they are a very good source as they have very close contact with ATI. As they said the chip is a spinoff of the R580, but not the same chip you can be sure that ATI will also have found the way to complete remove the extra pipes and so on to be no longer present for unlocking purposes.
