Guys can we change the vmod on the card just through BIOS? Isn't it necessary to make changes on the back of the card (GeForce 7800 GT & GTX )?
Yes on the GeForce 7800 GT you can increase the core voltage just via the BIOS from the standard 1.4V to 1.5V. On the GTX 256MB and GTX 512MB we are still looking to find a way to do something similar.

Well via the BIOS itself almost none, but with a BIOS flash there could always go something wrong. Which card do you have exactly? And do you have a multimeter?

Re:NiBiTor v2.6 Feedback... - 2006/01/04 13:39 Galaxy GeForce 7800 GT. I upped the BIOS a month ago. I have it overclocked at 470/1150MHz so I'm rather familiar with flashing cards (been doing it ever since the Radeon 9700 PRO). A multimeter as a hardware device?

Okay, well for the GeForce 7800 GT we had helps from other GeForce 7800 GT owners to find out all the voltage options possible with the BIOS. Your Galaxy GeForce 7800 GT can modded to work at 1.5V instead of the standard 1.4V. You just use NiBiTor v2.6 and will have the 1.5V option selection. Then save the BIOS and flash and you will get even a better overclock.

Re:NiBiTor v2.6 Feedback... - 2006/01/04 14:37 Is it worth the effort? Whats the maximum overclock anyone reached?

Yes it is worth the effort cause all GeForce 7800 GT's with 1.5V on the core go over 500MHz very easily. I think some have reach 525MHz and more with their GeForce 7800 GT.

Yes of course, if you overclock to far just like when you overclock to far with your default BIOS at 1.4V... That is the only thing but thatis the same with the default 1.4 BIOS or with the 1.5V BIOS, the only thing is with 1.5V on the core you can overclock much higher before getting artifacts! I just checked a bit further and with 1.5V on the GeForce 7800 GT we have already someone able to clock the core up to 560MHz.
