Modded GeForce FX59xx BIOS's... - 2004/09/08 06:35Below are links to various moded bios's, for anybody to try with whatever 59xx card they have. This is obviously nothing new and, of course, of no interest to people with a 6800 type card.
Although not many are linked, I believe they should keep interest going until Mavke makes others available directly from this website.
And it is thanks to Dr.Infern0 hosting them, that they are being made available at this posting.
Most of what is here is actually available at other forums. Having them here however, just makes it a bit more to hand if someone is looking for a moded bios whilst browsing !
Please Try them, Benchmark them, then post here to let everyone else benefit from your Experiences !!!!!
hi, i have a leadtech 5900xt, which of these bioses u think will be the best for me?? i know i should've try them one by one here, but with assignments piling on the side of my desk i dun have the time to do so...
thanks... i will benchmark though, and post the result here,... already have 3dmark03 up my sleeve...

Re:Moded 59xx bios's - 2004/09/09 01:11cartman,
The Leadtek A350XT TDH with stock speeds of 300/450/850, would be a good choice for your card, so give it a try.
When choosing a moded bios for a XT type card, it is most important to choose one with stock speeds equal or below whatever speeds you have managed to overclock with your original bios. And, if the moded bios has latency mods, then you could extend your choice to one with stock memory speeds of around 50MHz higher than you achieved with original bios.
Now just like with all bios's, once flashed, you can overclock the moded bios as far as it will go with your card !

Good result, well worth the no cost effort of simply changing bios's !
However, if flashed with the A350TDH bios I recommended, are 3dmark03 results with bios further overclocked, or at its original stock speeds of 450/850 ?
EDIT:
And my 3dmark03 result of 7743 is with my card flashed with a performance modified MSI 5950u bios running at 530/970.
Plus my main CPU is running at 3.8Ghz.
Also, every time I notch up my CPU a bit more, my graphics scores also move up a notch, which shows that my graphics card has not yet reached its limit. Not bad for a Aopen 5900nu card that cost me £140 !
NEW EDIT:
You should be able to overclock your card to at least 480/900 ?
However, you may fail to, simply because experience has shown that every card has to be considered different, even when same manufacturer. I have seen same XT type cards overclocking from as little as 430/750 and up to 500/940. So there are no guarantees what a card will achieve, especially XT types !

Re:Moded 59xx bios's - 2004/09/10 07:29ic ic....
i tried 480/880 n it stuck during benchmark... now i'm at 470/870 n got around 6200,.. not that much diffenrence...
urb, wait ti'll i get a better ram, then i'll benchmark again.. now i only use 512 pc2100, which is suck, coz i just upgraded my cpu to p4 3.0G... n i might overclock my cpu too after that... todays mobo makes overclocking so easy....
thanks, dude...

No prob's !
And yes, a bit more ram and certainly running better than 2100 will certainly help with performance and scores !
Also, you are right about todays mobo's making overclocking much easier. It was my new asus p4c800 that lets me run my FSB at 1000MHz and thus cpu at 3.8Ghz, and thats with air cooling only. Thinking of going to water so I can run cpu at 4GHz+

Relaxed and aggressive are terms introduced by Dr.Infern0 when identifying settings for memory in bios.
Most, if not all, XT cards come with bios's already set to aggressive memory timings, in order to compensate for using slower memory chips than all the higher cards. The Original spec for a XT card was that it use 2.8ns memory chips, whereas all higher cards used either 2.2ns or 2.0ns chips. More recently, in a game of catch-up, some manufacturers are actually fitting anything from 2.2-2.5ns chips. Which also means newer bios's are not same as original XT called for.
And relaxing memory latencies in bios usually achieves much better memory overclock.
Best way to make a guess at ns rating fitted to your card, is to overclock memory and see how high it goes. If only achieve around 750 then probably do have 2.8ns types.
However before choosing a moded bios to try, it is important to know max stable GPU and Memory overclocks. Then select one with equal or lower stock setting. Then install and overclock to new max stable speeds, which you can then set in bios iaw my 59xx bios modding guide !
