Radeon 9600 XT/TD Problem... - 2005/10/22 15:59 Hi, my first message on this site... I've got a problem with my Radeon 9600 XT/TD card. Suddenly when I have had my computer on (about 1 hour or so) then it suddenly turns off! No bluescreeen, no message or anything. I think it's the graphics card but I'm not sure... I turned off the VPU Recovery and when the monitor got black, then my computer was still on and then my monitor was beeping and it popped up a message... Wrong signal! Thankfull for any answers...

Re:Radeon 9600 XT/TD Problem... - 2005/10/22 16:47 Welcome... I don't see exactly what the issue might be with your explanation, but when the PC shuts down is the graphics card feeling hot? I suspect that the GPU on the card is overheating and that is why then the protection comes in and the PC gets powered down. Can you check that the cooler is still running fine and so on? Cause if it is overheating then it can lead to permanent damage...

Re:Radeon 9600 XT/TD Problem... - 2005/10/23 11:01 Ok... I've got water cooling that works well and SmartDoctor shows a temp at 30-35°C so I don't think it's overheating...but maybe I should check the GPU myself. Maybe SmartDoctor isn't working correctly. Thanks!

do you have system standby on ?

for about an hourr that sounds like system standby or hibernation.

does it do it if your playing a game the system will just shut off ?

dont OC the card,,, LOWER IT to stock
dont OC the pc LOWER IT TO STOCK

once you have everything at stock if it does it again then let us know.

Re:Radeon 9600 XT/TD Problem... - 2005/10/23 13:56 Yeah well SmartDoctor from ASUS is not always that accurate... And you also need to check the temps of the memory on the graphics card. Or if it is not the card then how hot does your CPU get? Is it also on water cooling?

Re:Radeon 9600 XT/TD Problem... - 2005/10/23 17:24 I think I´ve found the problem.. I felt at the CPU waterblock and I almost burned myself..! So I checked the water pump and I saw that it was stuck..

... So I drained the watersystem and took the pump apart, cleaned it and then it ran just fine.. And I havent had any crashes since then, the computer has been running for about 2,5 hours now so it´s all fine.. Thanks for the help
