Re:NVIDIA ForceWare v81.85 32bit and 64bit... - 2005/10/19 20:10Well having played with the ini file, looking and trying different BIOSes etc, no joy, officially I have no way forward with these drivers, so back to 78.xx's for me temporarily.
On a side note have managed to call the adapter after myself rather than just NVIDIA GeForce 6800 LE, pointless, no point what so ever, but at least I got something out of playing with the drivers, im curious tho Raptor, how did you force Windows to use the drivers???

Re:NVIDIA ForceWare v81.85 32bit and 64bit... - 2005/10/19 20:41Dont worry, at least your screen appears, mine doesnt....
Have tried stock bios, different bioses from different manufacturers, changing device ID's.
One last thing to try, a complete fresh install of windows.........
My device according to the bioses device ID = 0042, so the problem is there is no 0042 in the list above, therefore wont install, 00C2 is the PCI-E 6800 LE, and even if I change to this in the bios, it still dont work.
So the question is, whats an XE model (extreme edition??!?) and where is the 0042, will try changing my bios to 0043 and see if that works, maybe a mistake??

Re:NVIDIA ForceWare v81.85 32bit and 64bit... - 2005/10/19 21:19thats what i get when i just install the drivers from the exe ..... so i had to do it my way ....
Heres a SS of just exe the driver ( same as urs Jutthope21 ) SS1
Ok heres where i started my way of forcing the driver
I double click the display adapter in my case i used the 77.50 Leadteks driver SS3
then it starts to ask me what i want to do ...I check install from a specific location ( advanced ) SS4
next it asks me where is the driver at . i choose Dont search i will choose where the driver is at SS5
then it shows me what is listed as my dislay adapter ( notice that show compatable hardware is checked ) and my adapter is highlighted SS6
then windows asks where is my driver , i click browse ( i had my driver extracted to c:C:Documents and SettingsRaptorMy Documents81.85_winxp2k_32bit_international ) you have to make sure u extracted the driver at this point if you havnt done allready .... SS7
this is where i told it to use the new drivers inf for my adapter and where it is located at . SS8
then it asks what kind of display adapter do i have , i chose 6800 le ( for which is what i am using ) SS9
here is the warning windows tells ya ( only do this if you are for sure that the driver you are using is for the card ) I chose YES install this driver .... SS10
The Winxp not digitally signed BS i hit continue ( my thoughts yayayayaya whatever ) SS11
this is where it finally gets all finshed up YAY bout time ... SS12
Now i will post again showing that it did take hold on my card . i had to reinstall the stock drivers and then reinstall these for this tutorial ..... and i am in desperate need of a reboot ....

Re:NVIDIA ForceWare v81.85 32bit and 64bit... - 2005/10/19 21:37Well I have had a result, not a great one though, follwed your steps, for which I must admit have tried already, and I got a blank screen bar 4 pixels in the top left hand corner of the screen........
Basically what happens is the drivers install correctly but its when it comes to rebooting, thats when it hits a problem.
When coming back into Windows its almost like tthe computer gets stuck in a loop caused by the driver, from which it never recovers.......
Gonna keep trying, cos I want to see how much better the drivers are........

Re:NVIDIA ForceWare v81.85 32bit and 64bit... - 2005/10/19 22:12ok i had that same issue once . when riva tuner loads it keeps rolling the screen . i found that to be a bad bios on the card , thats when i used ur exact bios when u posted one for me to use , quick fix for that .
what i did i used my original bios changed the volts to 1.4 , and then used ur timings u posted or what u had in ur version of the bios .....problem fixed . do you still have the original bios from ur card ? if so just change the volts to 1.4 with nbitor ( dont hex edit it ) and then in the timing portion use ur timngs
if you need the original bios i still have it but i need to rehook up my floppy .

Re:NVIDIA ForceWare v81.85 32bit and 64bit... - 2005/10/19 22:14Can you post a copy of your bios please Raptor, ill try yours to see what happens........
EDIT:
Though it is truly, bizarre as the bios you got from me before was a bios that came from this site as mine got lost somewhere in the piles and piles of bioses I have stocked piled to fight the next world war with....
But I have managed to find my original one I believe and have tried that, no joy, just did a clean up of the registry and still no joy so gonna try using your bios.......
