ATI Radeon 9600 Pro problems... - 2005/09/21 22:44
Hello...
I have an Emachines PC 3230 that has an integrated graphics unit Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV graphics controller which is pretty crappy. I got an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro to upgrade my comp and installed as follows...
Uninstalled Intel drivers, turn off comp, connect Radeon 9600 Pro in the AGP slot, turn comp on enter BIOS settings and disabled the Intel onboard card. In the BIOS there is no option were you can select the AGP slot on or off just an option allowing you to select the of MB of the card. It was on auto so I changed it to 256MB which the card had.
Save and Exit. Turn on computer and big black screen... But when I turn the PC on I can still enter the BIOS settings when the monitor is plugged into the graphics card. What is wrong? There looks to be power to the card as the fan spins round and the PC seems to load up normally into XP but there is just a black screen after the initial boot up and will not reach XP...
I have checked all connections but it has made no difference. I have no idea what could could be wrong...
