Improve TV Out for Radeon 9800 Pro... - 2005/09/03 23:49 Hi all,

Until recently I had a NVIDIA GeForce Ti 4600 graphics card in the front room PC and used to use the S-Video outpout connected directly to a S-Video input on the front of my TV to watch DVD's and downloaded video, Xvid and Divx etc. and all was well, quite suddenly the card went pop and I needed a replacement. I opted for an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro because is seemed to offer good price/performance ratio and had TV Out.

Unfortunately it took ages for me to be able to get TV Out at all and now I have it is nowhere near as good as my old NVIDIA GeForce Ti 4600 was. I have output now but it is set up for NTSC I think as I get bars going across the screen all the time and the output lacks definition. Do I need another program to assist in outputting TV signals from DVD/Divx content. Does anyone know how I can improve the TV Out from my Radeon 9800 Pro through the S-Video output socket for use in the UK, so PAL output required.

Any help or advice appreciated.
Rocklett.

Re:Improve TV Out for Radeon 9800 Pro... - 2005/09/07 22:23 Well I think you can use RaBiT to change the TV Output in the BIOS of yoru Radeon 9800 XT. Which brand do you have exactly? As you will have tl backup the BIOS and then use RaBiT and well we might be able to help on that...

Re:Improve TV Out for Radeon 9800 Pro... - 2005/09/09 06:24 Thanks for coming back to me, I shall look up RaBiT. The graphics card is a Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB and otherwise performs ok, just the TV Out is not up to much.

Re:Improve TV Out for Radeon 9800 Pro... - 2005/09/09 08:52 I think the Radeon 9800 has 2 little switches onboard to select PAL or
NTSC output.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know that so your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Re:Improve TV Out for Radeon 9800 Pro... - 2005/09/25 23:36 I located the switch, thanks for the pointer guys, and DOS output was now on a 50Hz screen but checking the TV output I was left with much the same output as before.

The picture displayed on the TV screen is clear enough but it has a vertical black or dark line that sweeps horizontally across the screen a little less than once a second or once every couple of seconds, this is while the desktop is output to the TV or part of the desktop screen is displayed, the desktop image 1280x1024 is dispayed on the 19" CRT monitor but without the dark line.

Anyone any other ideas about removing the sweeping dark line from the TV display? Thanks to all who have helped so far.

Steve

Re:Improve TV Out for Radeon 9800 Pro... - 2005/09/26 12:17 And if you lower the resolution ? PAL output is only 720x576 max
